Hi all, I’m new to the church and relatively new to the faith, but I am excited about my new Catholic faith and would like to pray the rosary daily. I don’t have a purse, or a fanny pack, so carrying my new rosary is a challenge. But I do want to always take it with me when I leave the house so I can pray it when I have free time.

The rosary fits in pant pockets, but it’s tight. I read that some people wear it around their neck, others don’t. Some feel it’s not respectful, others feel it is just fine. Is there a general consensus on this? I don’t want to be disrespectful with a sacramental. I could see how wearing it this way, under a shirt, taking it off to pray with it, and putting it back, would be very convenient as a man. What is the general thought on this from men?

Thanks!
It’s wonderful you have this devotion! My husband is a convert of just over 5 years and he loves the Rosary too. He carries a pocket rosary ring . it’s inexpensive, you can get one made of strong metal so that it doesn’t snap, and he can carry it in his pocket easily. Hope that helps. He also likes a book called “Real men pray the Rosary”, they have a website too…realmenpraytherosary.org/

God Bless!

I’m not a man but here’s a couple things:
  1. If you can’t fit a rosary into your pocket - your pants are too tight or your rosary is too big. 😉
  2. My husband is a Knight of Columbus - the Knights have a special devotion to Our Lady and he carries his rosary in his pocket wherever he goes. He also has a rosary ‘coin’, which I think is pretty cool.
  3. My priest is a Carmelite and he wears his rosary around his neck along with his scapular. Trick is to not wear it like a necklace.

Ooooor, you’re a guy and have a lot of things you “need” in your pockets. 😉

That’s why I like cargo pants. 🙂

Exactly lol. Easy said from a woman who probably carries a purse. Try emptying your purse and carry everything you need for the day in trouser pockets lol.

Anywho, I got a pocket rosary and am golden now. 👍

The problem comes when the non Catholic law enforcement decides that what for many is a profession of Faith is in reality a sign of gangsterism.
That’s why you wear it (if you ***are ***going to wear it) around your neck and tucked inside your shirt, not outside your shirt like any other common piece of jewelry.

has anyone mentioned maybe not wearing super tight pants?

i carry mine in one of those zippered rosary pouches.

i carry a set of keys, a largish smartphone with an otterbox, a rosary, a handgun, and an extra magazine in my front pockets. it can be done. lol.

I don’t wear super tight pants, but there is no way I could carry what you carry and not look resiculous in business slacks that fit. But like I said, solution for me was to get a small pocket rosary in lieu of a full-sized rosary. Beads are small as is the crucifix, but it is practically not noticeable and doesn’t compete for space in my pockets. This was my solution in case any other guys have the same problem.

So do men not travel with their rosary, rather leave one at home/work/car,etc, and pocket a smaller rosary/coin/ring while traveling to help guide them while praying? Sorry for the silly questions 🙂
My rosary goes in my pocket, sometimes i use a finger rosary.

Pax! You will eventually find a way to carry your rosary if you really want to carry it and be reminded to pray with it. (It is used for counting)…Its not the number of rosaries one prays, but the intention with which they are praying. I forgot my rosary a couple of times, and used my fingers! “Hail Mary, full of grace”…:gopray2:angeltime

Hello,
I usually carry my Rosary around my neck tucked in my shirt, if you're looking for something smaller visit [www.cordbands.com](www.cordbands.com), they have beautiful rugged rosaries for men.

Pax! Thankyou for the info on the website for Rugged Rosaries; they would make a lovely gift too…angeltime:gopray2:

I have a less “bulky” one that I keep in my pocket.

I made myself a small leather Rosary bead pouch and wear it on my belt. I don’t like to go anywhere without my Rosary on my belt. It keeps it safer from damage and broken links than being in your pocket.

I’ve been carrying a rosary in my pants pocket for decades and have never had a problem doing so, or looked “ridiculous.” Knights of Columbus routinely carry the rosary with them, and I’m not sure how this is an issue, at all.

It’s an issue when you have a rosary too big lol. It’s not an issue any more for me.
