If you were castaway on a tropical island and could have only one book with you (besides the Bible) what would it be? Choose from the above or list your own.

That should be KARL not Kark. I will do penance for my unforgivable error. Mea culpa.

I have the complete 4 volume set of the Liturgy of the Hours and I read it daily…it is a model for daily prayer and devotion and I absolutely love it.

I would bring my copy of How to Build a Cell Phone Using Only Coconuts and Sand by Getme Outtahere.

Plenty of spiritually edifying material in the Bible, I chose the Army Guide which would help me with my bodily needs in this situation.

We get to keep the Bible, right? Because I’ve got the Creed and the Gloria memorized, so I could make shift to pray using the Psalms. I would pick the Catechism, because every time I read it, I walk away thanking God I’m Catholic. Now, if I could just get stranded with a priest who’s younger and healthier than I am…

I do believe you are incorrect, my friend. It was penned by The Professor of Gilligan’s Isle. That man did incredible things with coconuts and vines.

Anarchist Cookbook. How to convert a .10 gauge into a rocket launcher.

Just kidding. I’d bringthe Army Survival guide and meditate on the Hebrews exiled into the desert and thank God that He provided me such sustenance for both body and spirit when the Hebrews wandered without so much as a compass!
😃

Hmmm!!! Shogun or LOTR or Ben Hur or…Can I take all of the Patrick O’Brian books?

Guess I couldn’t get my monthly subscription to “Dressage Today” or “Gun Dog”? 😦

How about “Divine Intimacy”… and the Daily Missal. And my favorite prayer book. Crumb! I can’t choose! :mad:

Well, I have to agree w/ WD…The US Army Survival Guide by all means.

Here’s my take on this question;

If God sends me to a deserted tropical Island, I guess I can take the hint that I did something to tick him off and I am there for penetential purposes. Since it is tropical, not desert, that tells me that God does not intend my doom, but rather a more intimate relationship with me; therefore I need to spend time reading the Bible and praying…the Divine Mercy comes to mind. I think that’s all I’ll need.

I’ll use the Army Survival Guide to figure out how to survive so that I can do my Penance properly, and offer it up for God’s intentions.

I’ve read the Army Survival Guide…some version of it…and I can tell you it’s got some GREAT info! Preservation of both the Bible and the Guide would be key, however. Moisture is not good for paper products.
