boy scout handbook (pre-1970)
I would like to second that. Either that book or the shop manual for 700 series Volvos would do just fine (I mean…I already know the Boy Scout handbook cover to cover (only the important stuff) and then some). Maybe an upper-level division book on ship design and construction would do nicely as well.

Well, if you’re bringing the mix- I’ll bring the tequila. Sorry, but a virgin margarita a sad thing.
Not as sorry as ordering a virgin scotch on the rocks. 😛

Mmmmmm well, I am a bit of a reading nut!!! So I think that the book would have to be big and well-written so that really only leaves LOTR. But then agin what about an omnibus collection of all 33 Terry Pratchett books or the Twins books from the Dragonlance series or maybe my photo album or …how does one decide!!!

The Complete Ghost Stories of MR James… I’d want something I never get tired of reading.

Peace

would have to be catechism, survival is just common sense you would be amazed how creative you can be when your life depends on it
Good Answer! Survival a little common sense goes along way, if Gilligan could do it and survive so could I. The Bible you have the missal after attending daily Mass for years I could recite those words in my sleep but of course the readings and psalms I could not remember them all. As for the catechism I never have enough time in a day to read all the information that is in that wonderful book. 👍 So thumbs up for the catechism!

this has been a really fun thread to read. christians can have fun!!

in seriousness, ONE book would have to be my Bible. i think i could manage to struggle through everything else, man, when seriously pressed, can devise means to accomplish the necessary.

i have pieces of books in my head. 1953 boy scout manual, 1960 bluejacket’s manual. robinson crusoe. i have the Bible mostly in my head, but still, i need it. you can pray the psalms, the song of songs, etc.most of the Church’s prayers are in the Bible. i could probably fish the eucharistic prayer out of my head. actually most of the Mass is in my head. i have the legion of mary devotion in my head (person?)

Could someone inform me how I can get a copy of the U.S.Army Surival Manual, and about how much it would cost?

Thanks

:tiphat:

That should be KARL not Kark. I will do penance for my unforgivable error. Mea culpa.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((************************************)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Forgive me for what am about to say, BUT, whats all this Mea Culpa Stuff? If that is done to try to make people think you know Latin…it doesnt work with me. I think it is tacky.

I have always considered “mea culpa” to be a pretty standard alternate form of apology.

Moi aussi. 😉

Seriously, though, I thought it was on the same level as “et cetera”; it seems like just about everyone knows what it means.
