I’ve been aInformed Catholic? Catholic all my life. And I have to admit my absolute bafflement at Catholics and their obsession with sex and the proper way and motives for it.Hmmmm I would submit to you that it is the secular world that is obsessed with sex. I think that falls under common sense. Sex is for more than just procreationYes, the church teaches that every act must be for procreative and unitive purposes, that does not mean that every act must conceive a child but rather be open to it… A reading of the Bible would dispel the confusion over sex for every Catholic.Why are you lumping every Catholic into this. Our Church’s teaching on sex should be consistent with the Bible, after all we compiled it.

Take a look at 1 Corinthians 7:5, which reads: "Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."since you love to take things out of context would you kindly tell me how this is an argument for unitive only sex?
Just one more passage open to consideration is Ephesians 5:22-30, which reads, "22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansingb her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”c 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."Again what does this have to do with your point. Paul explicitly is making a point on the sacrifice of Christ for His Bride as men should do for their brides, if anything this verse could be used for times of chastity and sacrificing ones desires for the well being of the spouse.
That we are human is what sets our sexual acts apart from the lower animals. While the lower animals use sex for procreation, God gave mankind sex for a much greater purpose. It is not only for reproduction, it is also a complete giving of one’s self to the other; a complete sharing of mind, body, love, and devotion. It is how a married couple becomes one flesh. Sex is not conditional; it is not a negotiating tool. It is the sacred gift from God that unites a couple on all levels, for their lifetime.That is all true and most Catholics heck, most PEOPLE I know believe that. Sex cannot cause one spouse or another to objectify the other.Yes it can! Porn is sex. If it does, somebody please explain the passage from Proverbs 5:19, which reads, “A loving doe, a graceful deer–may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love” Proverbs again is not talking about sex but rather God and his people. Since you are asking for someone to explain it to you I can offer the idea of a good Bible Study and some scholarly study of scripture.
