Catholic adoption agency to defy gay rights law

A Roman Catholic adoption agency headed by Britain’s most senior Catholic churchman is to defy the Government over its controversial gay equality laws.
The Westminster Catholic Children’s Society, whose president is Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, will ignore new rules that require it to place children with same-sex couples.
While other Catholic adoption agencies are caving in to the legislation by severing their ties with the Church or even closing, the Westminster Society will continue its policy of placing children only with married heterosexuals and single people.

Good for them. Time to stand up to the Secular Relative Left and tell them “do show shove your immorality and perversions on us”.

Amen!

Let us face up to martyrdom like the Catholics of old did. What are they going to do to us – throw us to the lion?

Uh, am I wrong in my assumption that any private adoption agency can decide with whom they will transact business? Unless they are receiving government funding, standing their ground on this issue seems like a no-brainer to me. Or am I missing something?

Not quite. If I remember correctly, the Hunting Act of 2004 banned the use of foxes in “fox hunting.” It’s only a matter of time before someone else arrives at the obvious solution.

I’m sure some of those nuns can give the hounds a jolly good show…

I believe it comes down to licensing – if they don’t follow the rules, they can’t get a license to operate an adoption agency.

Hmmm… I see what you mean. I disagree with the government regulating it that way… I mean, I can see the point for example of a store owner/adoption agency refusing to work with African Americans being a problem. I guess you could relate it the same way if same-sex marriage/unions are legal as it would legally be considered discrimination, but it still seems like there should be something that can be done. Since the agency is specifically linked to a religious denomination, it should be considered a separate type of agency and therefore be exempt from those rules insofar as those rules contradict their obligation to their religious convictions. I hope they are able to “win” against any opposition that comes there way! 👍

Praise God! They might get in trouble for this but it is great news that they are standing up for what is right! 👍

So they do not have a licence. So what. The “Positive law” goes against God’s law and they have the obligation to ignore such laws.

It is funny to see civil disobedience towards liberals, they don’t seem to like it much when it is not them doing it.
