Bashing of religious beliefs different from one’s own has been going on since religion began. Nothing to be upset about.

I have tried to correct misinformation about Buddhism on this board; however, several members will not accept my information because it does not fit their preconceived ideas.

It is the same with Catholicism. Writing to this person to correct his misunderstanding will not work. The mind is already made up. Those who will not investigate Catholicism for themselves will believe him. Those who do investigate will know that this person is wrong. He may actually be leading people to Catholicism, at least those who check things out for themselves. 😉

That will put his knickers in a twist. 😃
i heard somewhere… some history book that Buddhists think women are evil, worse than demons…

Nothing God created is evil… until someone chooses to be so…

I have linked to some of her writings, and quoted her somewhat extensively, in some of my other posts in other threads on this forum, at times when other posters denied claims made in reference to her. I could link to those posts of mine here, but I don’t know if it would be worthwhile or not…but they are some of her most pointed remarks against the Catholic Church.

I posted a quote of hers where she is writing about “God’s highest authority on earth”…and surprisingly it is very Catholic in philosophy…only everything applies to the SDA church…which isn’t so surprising I suppose.

It took me personally, many years and much much prayer to see the truth in Catholic teaching…and I thank God everyday that He allowed the scales to fall from my eyes. God bless all!!!
Well, praise God! All I can say is that the words, reasoning and logic of man fail in revealing the truth. But, once the Holy Spirit takes over, true vision occurs. It is a peace that surpasses understanding. Amen!

When did the Pope say that?
i don’t know exactly waht pope said what/when and where… but supposedly yrs ago, the pope said tht there is no salvation outside the Church (…one before JPII) now the Chruch has explained this to mean that other christians are part of the Church, albeit indirectly/ imperfectly… and so they can be saved… but even non-Christians can be saved if they obey their conscience to the best of their ability… and when they do that, they are part of the Catholic Church because all grace comes from God through the Catholic Church… (although the Chruch itself would put it in more precise terms than these)…

Are you Catholic??

This statement applies to the “normative” manner of salvation. Of course, God’s grace is immeasurable and He can do whatever He wishes.

The design and layout of that page is hideous. It doesn’t even pass the W3C Markup validation!

I mean when you find 206 markup errors and 38 warnings on the first page alone, you should wonder about the quality of the material presented therein.
This page has 150 errors when I tested it on the same W3C page. I agree. It makes one wonder about the quality of the material presented therein

A very good point!

One of the things you fail to mention is the “pointed remarks” that the Catholic leadership has to say about “Protestants.”

Since there have been 266 popes, they obviously believe in demonic succession, but then they reject Apostolic succession. Hmmmm…

Just the personal history of their "pope’, Ellen Gould White, could be a mini-series! “Maine woman survives near fatal head injury and possible mercury poisoning. Suddenly receives visions and founds vegetarian church centered on Old Testament Sabbath.”

This has made for some interesting conversations with my SDA Chaplain at work. As to their teaching about the Catholic Church, the SDA pastor was “shocked” that a Catholic could be on fire for the Lord. Another stereotype shattered? I’m not holding out too much hope on that front…
Good stereotyping in this post

If reporting on established history, and repeating a true personal anecdote is stereotyping, I plead GUILTY!!! My point, as always, is the unusual circumstances surrounding the foundation of the SDA church, as well as the manifest effects of its anti-Catholic teaching. If I do not believe that the Catholic Church possesses the ultimate in truth and is the established path to eternal glory with God the Father, then I am not justified in speaking. I do so believe and I have so spoken. I pray that something, or someone, somewhere, will cause you to re-examine your faith tradition and will spur you to seek the fulness of truth as revealed by our Lord.

lol, I really dis-like the Pope and the RCC simply for the fact that it brags, and prides itself, and I am against anyone who talks trash about anyone else. I am not a anti-catholic, although I am sure that I have been called that on occasions in pm’s and such, but I do not really care what other people think anymore, I used to try to be nice, but then I got tired of being dissed and such for being a protestant. Of course, now that doesn’t work cause I am no longer a protestant, but I still dis-like them cause most of my family is protestant, and a lot of my friends are protestant, even though the majority are atheist or pagan or agnostic.

Nope, never will be either.

You have anti-Adventist teaching.

I researched the SDA using distinctly non-Catholic sources. Contemporary media reports. Available articles on E.G. White. I coupled that with personal experience. How on earth can I obtain unbiased information by relying on SDA info or web sites? My goal is to learn and understand alternative faith systems so that I can hope to know where their adherents are coming from. Obviously, I do not subscribe to their precepts or doctrines.

Does not the history of the SDA founding strike you as at least unusual in nature?

I am not questioning your sources at this time. You like to make the accusation of “antiCatholic;” but it seems to not be so palatable to you when someone points out that Catholicism is anti-Adventist.

Interesting. Can you show us how Catholocism is anti-Adventist?

OK, for the sake of argument, let’s agree. However, the Catholic Church does not teach, proclaim or distribute materials claiming that the Adventist church is anything. Not satan’s church. Not the embodiment of evil. Nothing, except what it is: a faith tradition that contains truth, but does not possess the completeness of God’s revealed truth, and which contains doctrinal error based on sola scriptura. If only the Catholic Church could expect as much in return from the others. We are too busy attempting, in our limited and flawed manner, of calling our separated brothers and sisters to unity. That, and trying to undo centuries of untruths and fiction about the Catholic faith.

This is a very important point which you make. Anyone can do a search in Catholic Answers and see what the Catholic Church says about the Seventh-day Adventist church. The Catholic view of Adventism is more charitable than most Protestant churches’ views of Adventism…most of whom consider the Seventh-day Adventist church a cult.

The Catholic Church acknowledges the that SDAs believe in the Trinity, The virgin birth, Christian baptism, etc.

In fact, as a former Seventh-day Adventist myself who is in RCIA currently, The Church accepts my SDA baptism as a valid Christian baptism.

I also know what Ellen G. White wrote about Catholicism, and have linked to those writings in other threads…a very different spirit indeed.

God bless all!!!

BareKnuckler,

Your PM box is full…

The guy that runs this site needs some prayers. He is very confused and instead of doing things to lift God up seems to be trapped in a life where he consumes himself with bashing the Catholic Church. 🤷

If you try to e-mail him any corrections he considers you some kind of deeply misinformed person that is going to go to hell if you don’t change your ways. Ultimately will block your e-mail and refuse to communicate with you, because you are evil for questioning the word of God. He’ll twist what you are saying into something evil and let you know that he will use this as proof on his radio broadcast about how we are.

It’s clear that he has decided to use his own interpretation of the Bible to fit his own beliefs.

I just wanted to point out this site, encourage you attempt to e-mail him to let him know you are praying for him to see the truth and realize that God calls us to be humble servants and we are not here to judge God’s people.

Remember aruging with him goes nowhere, he is deaf to the truth, but maybe a different approach is best. . Don’t give Catholics a bad name by sending him hate mail. Besides he says that hate mail from Catholics just shows him that what he says is true that we are evil. Good luck. 👍

That site is a lot of fun & games. It’s saner than some, hard to believe as that may be.

To make the pope’s name equal 666 they say the title of the pope is the vicar of the son of god.

That’s not even his title. His title is the Vicar of Christ. That doesn’t mean that some Catholic at some point hasn’t called him that, but that’s not his title. You may call your supervisor the “head hancho”, but that’s not his title.

I think if you try different combinations of Ellen G. White you can come up with 666 too.

Then of course they quote other SDA extremists as “sources”.

I’m failing to see them quote any Catholic Church doctrine, it’s all based of something some “Catholic” said. Or non-doctrinal sources.

Lastly. Nobody is saying that Saturday isn’t the Sabbath. It is! That’s always been true. However, we decided it is more appropriate to worship God on the day of our Lords ressurection.
