I made my decision through faith.

So does everybody. however, there are more things besides making decision by your own faith. Do you have anything else beside your own faith?

God’s Holy Word? How do you know what is God’s Holy Word? By faith? That same faith tells me to listen to the Church that God’s Holy Word speaks of.

The Church wrote the New Testament. That makes the decision pretty darned easy for me. In a way I feel sorry for you, having to take eternal consequences for your own decisions.

I will say that one of the most suprising things I found on this board was the degree of anomisity between Catholics and Protestants. As a Jew, I have to admit that I generally viewed the world of Christianity as “us against them”. It was odd to see what at first looked like infighting between christians when I started visiting these boards. I’ve since learned that there is strongly held differences of belief amond christians that explains (but does not justify) a lot of the bashing I’ve seen here.

I guess it comes right down to whether you believe that the CC is right in all that it teaches and does or you believe that it can be flawed and that God’s holy word is the only place where true unblemished truth is spoken. It’s your salvation, you decide.

You incorrectly think there is a conflict between the two. There is no conflict. We wouldn’t have God’s holy word if the Catholic Church didn’t give it to us.

I cannot understand when people say, “Which will you choose, Jesus or the Church?” That’s like saying, “Which will you choose, Jesus or the Bible?” Or “Which will you choose, Jesus or heaven?” It’s just gibberish. There is no “choice” because it’s all one thing.

The Catholic Church is Jesus’ body. Jesus called the Catholic Church “Me” in Acts 9:4. Bash the Catholic Church and you bash Jesus.

Chew on this one. 1 Timothy 3 : 14-15 I am writing you about these matters, although I hope to visit you soon. But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the CHURCH of the living God, the pillar and foundation of TRUTH. Also, the people in the church are not perfect, but Christ church is.

Well said. It certainly should not be a mystery to Catholics, since we (say that we) believe in original sin.​

Besides, if Catholicism is so much better than all other religions, & if they are so “defective”, surely it is unsurprising that those in them behave in a “defective” manner. By the same logic, if Catholicism is as hateful to God as some claim it is, it is completely unreasonable to expect Catholics not to behave hatefully

It is ridiculous to blame the adherents of a way of life one regards as evil, etc., for behaving in an evil manner: such behaviour is exactly what is to be expected. So when its adherents don’t behave evilly, they should - should they not ? - be praised for rising above the evil way of life they follow. So Catholics should praise all the hundreds of millions of non-Catholics who don’t behave evilly to them.

The world would be such a wonderful place to live in, if only it weren’t for the people.
