Which book in the OT (including the deuterocanonicals) was the last to be written?
Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament was written about four hundred years before the birth of Christ.Which book in the OT (including the deuterocanonicals) was the last to be written?
There’s another book written even closer to the time of Christ. To give you a hint, this book is one of the deuterocanonicals, so it is not found in Protestant Bibles.Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament was written about four hundred years before the birth of Christ.

2 Maccabees or Judith, both were written in the later part of the 2nd century BC.There’s another book written even closer to the time of Christ. To give you a hint, this book is one of the deuterocanonicals, so it is not found in Protestant Bibles.
Annunciata said:2) Lion
1Kings 13: 16-26
16 “I cannot go back with you, and I cannot eat bread or drink water with you in this place,” he answered, 17 “for I was told by the word of the LORD neither to eat bread nor drink water here, and not to go back the way I came.” 18 But he said to him, “I, too, am a prophet like you, and an angel told me in the word of the LORD to bring you back with me to my house and to have you eat bread and drink water.” He was lying to him, however. 19 So he went back with him, and ate bread and drank water in his house. 20 But while they were sitting at table, the LORD spoke to the prophet who had brought him back, 21 and he cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah: “The LORD says, ‘Because you rebelled against the command of the LORD and did not keep the command which the LORD, your God, gave you, 22 but returned and ate bread and drank water in the place where he told you to do neither, your corpse shall not be brought to the grave of your ancestors.’” 23 After he had eaten bread and drunk water, the *** was saddled for him, and he again 24 set out. But a lion met him on the road, and killed him. His corpse lay sprawled on the road, and the *** remained standing by it, and so did the lion. 25 Some passers-by saw the body lying in the road, with the lion standing beside it, and carried the news to the city where the old prophet lived. 26 On hearing it, the prophet who had brought him back from his journey said: “It is the man of God who rebelled against the command of the LORD. He has delivered him to a lion, which mangled and killed him, as the LORD predicted to him.”

What did David do with the silver and gold that he had taken from all nations which he subdued?
- he burned them
- dedicated them unto the LORD
- he divided them up with the tribes
- he gave them to the priests
You said it was in the OT… and if the ones I suggested were written in 2 BC how can the 50BC be the last one written…The one I’m thinking of was most likely written in 50 BC. In one of the earliest canons archaeologists have found, this book was in the canon of the Bible–in the New Testament.
It is in the OT, but because so many of its themes are picked up in the NT, apparently at least one early Christian thought it should be placed in the NT.You said it was in the OT… and if the ones I suggested were written in 2 BC how can the 50BC be the last one written…
Your going to have to give me another hint.
Sorry you have me totally confused…I meant to say latter part of the 2ndcentury BC…It is in the OT, but because so many of its themes are picked up in the NT, apparently at least one early Christian thought it should be placed in the NT.
It’s a deuterocanonical
I thought you said that the ones you mentioned were written in the 2nd century BC (200 BC-100 BC). My Bible says that Judith was written early in the last century BC (around 100 BC) and that 2 Maccabees was written sometime around 100 BC.
The book I’m thinking of was written for the Jewish people living in Alexandria.
It’s the Book of Wisdom, also known as the Wisdom of Solomon (although he obviously didn’t write it) or just as Wisdom. It was written in 50 BC, and a lot of concepts in it are really developed in the New Testament.Sorry you have me totally confused…I meant to say latter part of the 2ndcentury BC…I for one give up…I have looked everywhere!!! TELL ME WHAT IT IS…PULEEZ!!!:banghead:
Thank you… Now I can sleep tonightIt’s the Book of Wisdom, also known as the Wisdom of Solomon (although he obviously didn’t write it) or just as Wisdom. It was written in 50 BC, and a lot of concepts in it are really developed in the New Testament.
I think it’s a fascinating book. 1:16-2:9 seem like they could be a description of today’s world with the culture of death and desire to get as much pleasure as possible out of life. 2:10-24 reads like a description of what happened to Christ.
I’m attending a Bible study on Wisdom, and we covered the first few chapters. I was really excited to see that the way I’d seen it was also the way lots of smarter and more knowledgable people see it, too.
It really is a great Bible study. I’m fortunate to have something like this available to me.Thank you… Now I can sleep tonightSounds like a great Bible study…
