Pray for their souls. Is it safe to call this “heresy” without being bashed?

Far better for the Catholic Church that they leave, since they can no longer assent to the teaching of the Church. It is honesty, if not exactly wisdom. I would guess that they are moving to embrace exactly what many Anglicans are leaving.

Read the messages under the article and appears there’s some question as to whether the bishop was a Roman Catholic bishop or not.

Oh. The old “any port in a storm” mentality? 😉 From the comments section of the article:
This so called "Roman Catholic Bishop " isn’t a true one. Considering that the peruvian hierarchy consistently challenged this group’s will to call themselves “Roman Catholic”, I suppose this Bishop is in fact a vagans episcopus as there are so many…
This is confirmed by the fact that there is absolutely no “Bishop Oscar Rojas Quinto” in the 2 online Anuario Pontificio available: catholic-hierarchy.org/country/bpe2.html & gcatholic.com/hierarchy/country/PE.htm
Facts should be duly verified before beeing broadcasted. Make sensationalist headlines about false facts isn’t good journalism.

A truly bizarre twist may occur should the Anglican communion in Peru eventually seek communion with Rome, huh?

As to the final comment questioning the “negative” reply when “God is at work”, I must note that the Holy Spirit always unites. It is the demon who divides.

I don’t know what it meant. Are they a branch of Anglican that calls themselves RC but aren’t connected to the RC Church? Don’t know what you meant by “any port in a storm”.

One of the comments on the article says that this man is not even a Roman Catholic bishop. FYI

Sure seems so. If this bishop(?) is not on the list of Catholic bishops in Peru, then what, exactly, is he? I know, for example, that SSPV has “bishops” and at least one of its offshoots even has a “pope”, and they all claim to be Catholic. But they’re all just bogus. I’m not saying this bishop is SSPV, and doubt he is, but there are other groups like it, and I really do question whether he was ever a real Catholic bishop. If he isn’t and if he “ordained” those priests, then they’re not really Catholic priests either.

I was halfway assuming that some sort of investigation into their status was occurring. It seems that they were not actually Roman Catholic, and needed some place to call home. There was apparently little or no chance for them to enter the Catholic Church, so they looked around for an alternative.

Understand. So much for investigative reporting. Hard to keep track of who’s on first…so to speak.

mea culpa, insofar as I trusted what I read. I can find no mention on the internet of this bishop, and none in the Catholic Hierarchy database website.

What was David Virtue thinking?

Sorry, folks.

The entire report is bizarre. Either these men are not actually Roman Catholics, or they are dissenters over the usual priestly celibacy/women’s ordination/same sex paradigm.
