This is the way the bishops should be counseling their flock. Wonder when the American bishops will drop the political correctness and do something similar.
Not until this generation passes away.😦

We have few vacant sees in the US and I think PB XVI is going to suprise us when he fills them.
I sincerely hope so – our diocese, the Diocese of Little Rock is presently without a bishop. During the last Presidential election campaign, a “Catholic” pro-choice candidate visited and the question was raised, “Can such a person receive communion?”

The answer – by an official diocese spokesman – was, “We don’t want to put them under pressure.”

Every single church in the Diocese has some parishoners who can’t receive communion – usually because of divorce and remarriage, and the Diocese doesn’t worry about putting them under pressure.

Under our former Bishop, we had two Churches – one for ordinary people, and one for the rich and powerful, who were treated differently.

Political figures that espouse positions at variance with Church positions should not receive the Eucharist. End of Story If they don’t like it, they need to get their priorities straight.

There shouldn’t be one rule for most people and a special flexible rule for the rich and powerful.
