“The God Who Loves You” by Peter Kreeft. I mean it truly spoke to my heart. I had tears come to my eyes. A GREAT BOOK! I just want others to read it if they can.
 
One of my favorites is, “The Lamb’s Supper,” by Dr Scott Hahn

I read it on retreat in one week-end. 😃
 
All of Hahn’s books are great - but yes, The Lamb’s Supper really opened my eyes to the Mass and what is taking place during the Mass.

As far as I know, Hunger games are not Catholic books.

the Lord of the Ring has been written by a Catholic, and have some christian inspirations (such as the battle against good and bad, sacrifice…), among others, but are not especially Catholics litterature.

Lord of the Rings is thoroughly imbued with the Catholic faith, as that was the center of Tolkien’s life, and he shared much with C.S. Lewis who wrote explicit allegories of the faith in the Chronicles of Narnia. Tolkien disavowed the use of allegory, but the mark of Christ is still plainly visible in his works.

As for The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins is a Catholic woman, and her novels are infused with noble self-sacrifice and the dignity of the human person. She draws much from Imperial Roman times, modeling the cruel, autocratic Capitol after its most decadent features. I am still not sure exactly what manner of allegory subsists within this universe, but it is deep and wide and exceedingly appealing to this Roman Catholic man.

Absolutely inspiring, and as much as I like to think I’m living out my faith fully, it is also very humbling to see the degree to which she gives herself completely to Jesus. It’s really beautiful. It’s also very exciting to see the degree of closeness Jesus offers to those who will follow.

Great book recommendations so far!

The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene is one of my favorite books. It is perfect to read during a crisis, so basically anytime in history 😉

Well, I’ve been rummaging through some ancients 😛 The Shepherd of Hermas and St Polycarp’s Letter to the Philippians are two 1st/2nd century books I’ve just read. I really liked them, especially the Shepherd.
