Family of elderly cancer sufferer are suing the care home for not allowing a doctor to administer a lethal injection on its premises
The family of an elderly cancer sufferer who wanted to die by euthanasia is suing a Belgian Catholic care home for refusing to let a doctor give the woman a lethal injection on Church-run premises.
Mariette Buntjens was instead removed from the Sint-Augustinus rest home in Diest and died days later in the “peaceful surroundings” of a private residence at the hands of a doctor.

Yet again, another attack on the Church and the Christian religion.

Hopefully the bishop rallies his flock to rebut this attack.

How sad that those who do not know Christ are unaware that a dying person can be having a dialogue with the Lord, and also be the recipient of prayers for a peaceful, loving, happy death.

If accepted as the will of God, a sufferer could use that time to help them avoid purgatory.

.
Or get a good lawyer to set a precedent in court.

I think it is important that Church culture and morals be paramount in Catholic institutions. This should ideally be specified in secular law.

if the cancer sufferer was able to die peacefully somewhere else why is the Catholic care home being sued? did they not know it was a Catholic care home when she was placed there? did they not ask ahead of time if patients could be euthanized? why sue a care home for not performing euthanasia because they are Catholic and don’t believe in it?

Because they wish to force the Church to change her teachings. And they will punish the Church until it does.

Common sense would dictate that if this were an issue the next-of-kin would simply withdraw the patient from the premise and deliver them to a place where lethal injection can be administered. Considering the goal of the entire exercise is death, I can’t imagine that individuals would be afraid of complications.
