BOSTON - Seven members of the Catholic Charities board are resigning in protest of a recent request by the state’s Roman Catholic bishop to exempt Catholic social service agencies from a law requiring them to place some adoptive children in gay households.

The board members say they’re “deeply troubled” by the course set by the four bishops. A statement issued by the seven says the policy would undermine the church’s moral priority of helping vulnerable children find loving homes.
Well, I suppose the Church could start by finding homes that don’t have a disordered sense of love in the first place.

Oh wait, that exactly what the bishops are proposing

If these people were going to try placing children in homes where their consciences would receive improper formation and their concepts of authentic love be warped, then I guess the children of Massachusetts might be a little safer for the move.

Adios to the board members. Maybe they can find jobs in some pro-gay agency. A pat on the back to the Bishops finally standing up for church teachings

It’s called laity self-will run riot.

Now that the chaff has been shifted out, those who adhere to the Catholic understanding of the dignity of the person can fill their vacancies.

I applaud the bishops for their stance. They speak the truth and appear willing to sacrifice their reputation for the truth. I’m disappointed in these so-called prominent laity board members. The only thing their resignation will do is further create a climate of disunity, which the church in Boston doesn’t need right now. If these prominent board members would follow church teachings and back up the bishops on this, then the chances of an exemption (for religious reasons) being granted would be greater but because of their misguided dissention on this issue, the Boston Catholic Charities may have to ultimately give up adoption services.

Anyone who supports gay adoption should not permitted on any Catholic board.

But how many are still there undermining the Church:(

I highly suspect that this would be taken as a very brash statement by many Catholic board members for Catholic Charities across the U.S.

Regardless, anyone who supports child abuse (via gay adoption) should not be allowed on any Catholic board.

Let’s pray our Bishops do not compromise on this, and that the Governor will allow an exemption - a win-win for everyone.
But, if the Governor denies the exemption, pray our Bishops will not back down and that they very publicly defend the moral law the Church is obligated to uphold. What a strong statement that would make. Let God’s will be done.

I agree - let’s all pray that they’ll have the courage to speak the truth.

i guess some people believe that “natural parents” are to be
considered “baby machines” for the state and other sterile relationships from whom they will extract money to pay for their immorality.
