Is this an important step because it shows that Christianity is Mongolian, and not simply a foreign religion?

Yes. And it shows that Christianity is gaining a (small) foothold in the country. Things will be more stable for the Mongolian Church once it gains its own clergy and doesn’t have to rely on foreign missionaries.

This shows that Christianity is gaining a foothold in the former communist state of Mongolia. There are still many Marxists in the government though. Maybe Marxism can be eliminated from Mongolia with the help of Catholicism.
