Matt25:
The Catechism on anti-war activists

And Gaudium et Spes osjspm.org/cst/gs2.htm
Matt, I do read the Catechism. I was referring to the antiwar antics in Texas this week. I don’t think Code Pink or some of the others have the Catechism in mind while protesting.

My daughter serves willingly. She is part of the volunteer service that we now have. Reelistment rates are high because the people on the front lines of this see the value of what we are doing.

I guess I am off topic- sorry but I wanted to clarify my position.

Steve O'Brien:
American Catholics who disagree with the opposition of Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to the U.S. invasion of Iraq may say that they accept the Church’s anti-war and pro-peace premises as set forth in sections 2302-2330 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and (in a more developed manner) in sections 77-90 of Vatican II’s Gaudium et spes. Nevertheless, those Catholics are not drawing a necessary conclusion from those premises.
The position of John Paul the Great and Benedict XVI was that since we’re already over there, that we need to finish the job. That is my position. Whether or not we should have or should not have invaded is moot now, since it is the past. MOVE ON!

God bless,

When exactly did they say that?

.
Not everybody protesting against the war has the Catechism in mind, but some do.

Not everybody fighting in the British or American army of occupation has the Catechism in mind but some do.

Christians are always a minority in the world. We are called to be the leaven that leavens the whole.
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. 14 "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
