So now that i have a great understanding of christianity and everything in that nature, i would totally agree with Catholism being the only church that has authority to be established. All of these other churches are just idiotic. All your shoot offs just broke away because they wanted to focus on a specific doctrine. For example, the baptists focus everything on being baptized and that was the reason for the breakaway.

Another reason was due to the corruption or sins of catholic leaders. Thats the main reason Lutherans broke away. So it’s just a matter of the Catholic church teaching and practicing correct principles, it doesn’t give people authority to establish their own churches. Its just a matter of knocking sense into the catholic leaders. The Catholics are closer to true doctrine then any other church i have seen.

Business as usual - a lot of claims, and no reasoning except the claims themselves.

Nothing new under the sun…

Why did the EO church break away in 1075??

Why did the EO church break away in 1075??
The EO claim that it was the RCC that broke away, and that IT is the original church.

Btw, it was 1054, at least if you’re referring to The great Schism…

What’s YOUR point?

Eastern Orthodoxy:
Both have valid holy orders and apostolic succession through the episcopacy, both celebrate the same sacraments, both believe almost exactly the same theology, and both proclaim the same faith in Christ.
Neither changed doctrines as happened in the reformation of the 1500s.

Neither claims the King James Version of the Bible:
The king gave the translators instructions designed to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its beliefs about an ordained clergy.
Martin Luther choose the translation of the Hebrew version of the Old Testament over the Greek, yet when it came to the New Testament, he had little choice. Choosing the Hebrew version is why the King James Version has less books in the Old Testament.

Not to mention, Martin Luther added words to the Bible to fit his theology:
Luther added the word “alone” to Romans 3:28 controversially so that it read: “thus, we hold, then, that man is justified without the works of the law to do, alone through faith” The word “alone” does not appear in the original Greek text, but Luther defended his translation by maintaining that the adverb “alone” was required both by idiomatic German and the apostle Paul’s intended meaning.
Martin Luther admitted to adding the word alone:
If your Papist wishes to make a great fuss about the word “alone” (sola), say this to him: “Dr. Martin Luther will have it so…”
Again, what’s YOUR point?

What if we all took a step back and looked at it as if none of our versions of Christianity today are correct. We as humans are rotten and sinful and I believe part of the beauty in Christ dying on the cross is that nothing we do can possible compensate for our wrong doings. Why can’t we all look at it as if we are stuck in the thing called humanity together and arguing about which sect or “version” of christianity is more correct is a waste of the short time we have on earth. No one today was alive 2000 years ago so, regardless of what scripture we have, we have a distorted view of what happened. We could argue until the end of time about “who is more right”, but what really matters is truly loving God and other people no matter what they believe and not expecting any type or reward in return. You don’t “earn” salvation, none of us deserve or are entitled to salvation, if a person believes they deserve it more than someone else they are wrong. If Christ were here today he wouldn’t be so concerned with which denomination is correct, he would be out helping people, loving people, spending time drinking wine and eating dinner with his friends and people who “society” looks down upon, and loving his father, God.

And what if we all did what the OP did, and study and discern which of the many different sects available is indeed the Church that Christ Founded upon the Love of God of which you speak. For Christ did not found many Churches or denominations, but one.
Then, as you so correctly point out, sinful and prideful humans subverted the pure faith. The OP has determined for himself that the Catholic Church is indeed the One True Church and we are happy for him.
If each person made that same journey, seeking the fullness of God’s grace in His Church then there would indeed be greater love and unity in the world.

awesome. GOD bless you! 👍

heedthewarning7,

You make the all-so famous statement…which will never cease to be true.

Doing so, on the other hand, will be difficult because of the barriers we hold between each other.

It would be impossible to get rid of the religious aspect of Christianity…and I agree…God is NOT religion…but He did leave us one before His ascension into Heaven!

I do feel sometimes that none of should be on these forums and we should be out trying to teach people of what Christ did for us.

Just remember, Christ wanted us to be one (just as He and the Father are one) and we cannot do that by believing different things…and it would be impossible to start Christianity from scratch because of the reasons you gave (i.e. none of us where there).

Now I feel like I am derailing!

CONGRATULATIONS! Praise be to the Holy Spirit!

The Catholic Church has been around for over 2000 years.

The problem with, let’s all assume our versions of Christianity are correct, is the fact that there are over 35000 denominations of Churches, all with slightly to alot of different doctrines. Even if you tried to connect all those with similar doctrines, you’d still have thousands.

We should all strive to worship God as is His will, not our versions to fit our individual lifestyles.

Just my :twocents:.

wait I’m confused… you guys can’t honestly tell me that the Catholic Church today is the same machine that is was 500 years ago, let alone 2000! It would be blissful ignorance to believe that.

You might want to read the rules of this forum before you carry your anti-Catholic agenda any further.

LOL. now that will never do. The Roman church has NEVER changed, so they say. Course just about everyone else begs to differ.

Maybe your comments are like posting an anti-Catholic video and then admitting it was only posted to get a “rise” out of everyone.
