Who prophesied the [temple] in Jerusalem would be built again?
Christ. Mathew 15:48.
You realize the verse you show, references the destruction of Jerusalem and not the second coming which the Lord said no man would know the time…
Perhaps by one level of understanding. If you claim verse 34 was referring only to verses 15-20. But I think we would be ignorant to ignore the verses much closer to that statement:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
I don’t know who Catholics define the Son of man to be. But if not Christ, who does this verse refer to. And if it was Christ, when will all the tribes of the earth see him appear in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory? And wouldn’t it make more sense for verse 34 to also apply to these verses since they precede it more closely?
Hmmmm, so I guess you’re a part of the Church of Christ (Temple Lot) Mormons? They own the land. They also say the rest of the LDS are apostates from the restored Gospel.
This would be an incorrect assumption. Make fun all you want, ignore the fact if you want. The verse in D&C does say temple lot and the temple lot was dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith.
Are you really serious? I’m posting this scripture:
Mar 14:58 We heard him say, I Will destroy this temple made with hands and within three days I will build another not made with hands.
You realize this was Christ foretelling his resurrection, right? And it did happen, at least Christians believe it did.
I am serious. Where was he speaking? I believe Christ was very deliberate in his word choice here. If he meant “my body” why not say “my body?” And why add the phrases “made with hands” and “not made with hands” Was Christ’s body made with hands? At this time temples were made by hand. Now how are they made? Largely by machine. I love the teaching that this prophesy symbolically pointed to Christ’s resurrection but taken literally it undoubtedly refers to the reconstruction of the temple.
Again, I am posting your Doctrines and Covenants:
1 A revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they united their hearts and lifted their voices on high.
2 Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem.

I’m afraid when someone says word of the Lord as spoken by the mouth of His prophets is a prophesy. Still stretching I see.
Well you know its important to stretch frequently, especially before and after exercise, otherwise you end up pulling something.😃
Back to our point. Every word spoken by a prophet is not necessarily prophesy. Wasn’t Moses a prophet? Didn’t he deliver the word of the Lord in the form of 10 commandments? Were *those *prophesies?
I addressed the ownership of the land, it’s a moot point, I think it’s proven to be a false prophesy, in my opinion. Anyone else think that as well?
And you are welcome to your opinion and others will likely back you up, but I think the word “proven” is a bit of a stretch. Given the word definitions and history I have provided your argument is not necessarily proof. 🤷
The Catholic Church was started by Christ, I certainly hope you don’t attack our founder. Your founder, well we’re still discussing him and his escapades.
Yes, and christ also started the protestant churches, and baptist churches. Christ technically started all Christian religions. Were it not for his teachings none of them would exist now would they? I know what you meant but I am trying to make a point. Nowhere in the bible did Christ name his church. He simply taught truth and those teachings were propagated by his apostles and other believers to the world. Eventually people began forming into churches based on some of the truths preserved by those who followed him.
Christ also asked the Father to forgive His persecutors. Christ did not fight His arrest or His death. He gave His life for all.

Joseph Smith pulled a gun and shot people coming after him.
Joseph Smith did not fight his arrests either. When it came to his death the people he shot at were a mob of 200 men. These same mobs had harassed the church since its founding much like the Romans harassed the early church of Christ’s time. Mormon men, woman and children were senselessly slaughtered at their hands. Peacefully consenting to ones own death and defending oneself and friends against an angry mob storming your jail cell are two completely different things.

So now that i have a great understanding of christianity and everything in that nature, i would totally agree with Catholism being the only church that has authority to be established. All of these other churches are just idiotic. All your shoot offs just broke away because they wanted to focus on a specific doctrine. For example, the baptists focus everything on being baptized and that was the reason for the breakaway.

Another reason was due to the corruption or sins of catholic leaders. Thats the main reason Lutherans broke away. So it’s just a matter of the Catholic church teaching and practicing correct principles, it doesn’t give people authority to establish their own churches. Its just a matter of knocking sense into the catholic leaders. The Catholics are closer to true doctrine then any other church i have seen.
So we are idiotic then? I will remeber this when someone accuses me of being uncharitable. Nobody here Catholic or not should have to put up with being called an idiot.

Christ. Mathew 15:48.
You must have a typo there. Matthew doesn’t have that many verses in chapter 15. What verse are you referring too?

I’ve had Jehovah Witnesses say the same. Matthew 24 has a double prophetic message, one the fall of Jerusalem and the second coming. Christ said, no one but the Father knows when the second coming will happen. Look at Matthew 24:2, the Lord specifically tells of the temple being destroyed when Jerusalem falls

**Mat 24:1 And Jesus being come out of the temple, went away. And his disciples came to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2 And he answering, said to them: Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you, there shall not be left here a stone upon a stone that shall not be destroyed.

Think about it, raise it up in 3 days…resurrected in 3 days. Let’s look at it from the view according to the Gospel of John:

**Joh 2:19 Jesus answered and said to them: Destroy this temple; and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20 The Jews then said: Six and forty years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
Joh 2:21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
Joh 2:22 When therefore he was risen again from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this: and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had said.

Moses delivered the word of the Lord in the form of 10 commandments. He did not prophesize the word of the Lord by the mouth of His prophet. He delivered the 10 commandments on tablets.

The Catholic Church considers Protestant Churches, separated brethren. What they have they received from the Catholic Church through the reformation. Martin Luther and other reformers took what parts they, as men, saw necessary in the 1500s. Until that time, there was only one Church. The Catholic Church offers the fullness of Christ’s teachings.
Joseph Smith did not fight his arrests either. When it came to his death the people he shot at were a mob of 200 men. There was a door separating the crowds from the prisoners. They were in a room not a cell. Joseph Smith opened the door slightly and pulled the trigger 6 times blindly. Only 3 shots fired.

John Taylor, who became the third President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made these statements concerning the death of Joseph Smith:
He, however, instantly arose, and with a firm, quick step, and a determined expression of countenance, approached the door, and pulling the six-shooter left by Brother Wheelock from his pocket, opened the door slightly, and snapped the pistol six successive times; only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these discharges, two of whom, I am informed died." (History of the Church, Vol. 7, p. 100, 102 & 103)"
May the peace of the Lord be with you,
Prodigal Son1

I find it interesting the OP is not posting on here anymore
the op is busy questioning celibacy about CATHOLIC priests on another thread. probably got sick and tired of riding his bike going around neighborhoods.

Yes, I just noticed that - bringing his profound theology to another thread.
