Catholic Church wrong in their teachings?

I think you have confused what claim I was speaking of. Here it is again:
"The Catholic Church is the Church which Jesus Christ founded. Those to whom Jesus was speaking were the Catholic Church. If you hear the Authentic teaching of the Catholic Church, then you do hear Jesus Christ who founded it."My local assembly makes none of those claims, and I would flee from it if it did.
I am sorry, but that’s not good enough. Nor am I confused–I asked first of all if your church doesn’t make any claim, since you said no, then I wonder why you are in a church that doesn’t make such a claim. Every denomination actually makes this claim–the Baptists with their “Trail of Blood”, the Fundamentalists with the “golden thread” to the early Church, the Inglesia ni Cristo (INC–a Philippine sect) making its own claim, and so on. These claims are done for the sake of legitimizing their sects. A group or sect that does not make such a claim, in essence, is suspect, since then it has no authority to speak of. Thus the need to legitimize themselves. Now, it’s either your group has this claim–and I for a moment do not doubt that it does–or else your group would not have any business at all in calling itself Christian, since then few people would take you seriously. I will repeat–no sect I know of doesn’t make this claim, so it would be strange to say your church doesn’t make this claim when each and every sect makes this. So, having said that, what does your church say?

I think you have confused what claim I was speaking of. Here it is again:

“The Catholic Church is the Church which Jesus Christ founded. Those to whom Jesus was speaking were the Catholic Church. If you hear the Authentic teaching of the Catholic Church, then you do hear Jesus Christ who founded it.”

My local assembly makes none of those claims, and I would flee from it if it did.
So then Our Lord did not mean what he said here.“He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me.” (Luke 10:16)

And well they should not since they do not teach the same doctrines that the New Testament does nor that the early church did. It starts with Sola Scriptura and cascades downhill from there with a whole host of new winds of errant doctrines.

Be specific Atemi…open a thread on one doctrine at a time and prove us wrong if you are so very sure.

Courage of your conviction? So long as you stay within the forum rules and banned topics policy your paranoia will prove unfounded. I’m really curious to see if you can do this without being uncharitable or disrespectful, so hey, prove me wrong. 🤷

but all they want to do is argue and use like 1 or 2 scriptures to disprove me.

Every time I see my Mom she wants to argue and tell me she’s praying that God will lead me in the “right” direction (the way she believes, of course).

What can I do? God bless.
It seems to me there is a spirit of contention at work. Instead of arguing, can you just agree to disagree? Can you thank them for their prayers, and cordially smile and say “I guess we see it differently”?

If you live your life, and bear fruit, that will say much more than all the “arguements” put together. However, keep coming here, and learning how to defend your faith, so that when the time comes that someone is really open to learning, you can educate.

I’ve been told that the best book in this situation is David Currie’s Born Fundamentalist Born Again Catholic. He came from that background.

For Catholics, I think Karl Keating’s book is the best one.

Confesson to a priest
How many times in the Bible does God breathe on anyone? The first time was when he breathed life into Adam, the second time was when Jesus breathed on the Apostles and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

What’s the point of giving them the power to forgive sins if He doesn’t expect them to use it? And, as others have already pointed out, sins have to be confessed before they can be forgiven or retained.
Christ’s first miracle was water to wine…
…and lots of it (120-180 gallons of the stuff!)

5.drinking . Again, where in the bible is drinking forbidden? Did not Jesus make wine? Did not he and the Apostles drink wine at the Last Supper? Drinking is not forbidden, but drunkenness is. Did they know that the bible says “drink a little wine for thy stomach’s sake .” I bet they don’t know their bible very well.
My father was a baptist preacher also. They believe what they want to believe and make it up as it goes when the scriptures don’t fit what they want to believe.

There was even a war of letters to the editor in my home town newspaper about the above miracle. The local southern baptists argued that the wine Christ made was not fermented wine but only grape juice. Yea, how rediculous is that? Heck, I could squeeze grapes in a few minutes to make grape juice. Some miracle that would have been.

That alone should make most people wonder about baptists, plus baptists don’t even believe baptism is necessary.
