The priests are not alone in making such claims. “They still can’t tell us how much the pope’s visit cost two years ago,” said Esther López Barceló, youth coordinator for the small United Left party. Ms. López initiated a Twitter campaign this month against the pope’s visit. “Every time he comes here, the figures become opaque,” she said.

Why is it ALWAYS the leftists who protest against religion? I don’t care who they are, priests or not, they are COMMUNISTS who, in the name of their “social justice” and “redistribution of wealth,” are making the poor poorer and are creating class warfare and violence.

MILLIONS WERE KILLED IN THE NAME OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, aka COMMUNISM.

They did the same in the UK before the Pope came last September. His visit was a resounding success.
 
Don’t kid yourself communities everywhere are looking for events especially downtown event that bring in millions of dollars in food, sunglasses, newspapers, hotel, even those people protesting need supplies;* “young people who occupied many of Spain’s main squares for months”*
The Church may be spending 72 million but if it keeps Catholic’s giving 7/10th of their tax dollar to the church it’s well worth it.
What would life be like in Spain without a solid moral church foundation to live by?
 
The Pope is probably costing them a lot less than Michelle Obama did on her shopping trip.

Spain is litterally dominated by Liberals, and Socialists-has bowed down and become the second Soddom and Gomorrah and yet they STILL aren’t happy!

Liberals are dead to me, litterally talking corpses who do little more but spread their virus through their voice and deeds.

The complaints of the priests remind me of Judas` complaint when the woman poured the expensive perfume over our Lord. 😦
 
Leftists will latch onto anything that lets them continue their near-constant whining.
Especially if it will remove so much as an iota of moral authority from the Church.(which I don’t think this does, but some may)

I’m tired of all these protests, too. Why must the liberals (and their misguided ‘allies’) always look at things through the lens of a ‘price tag’?

AT LEAST THE KIDS WHO ARE IN SPAIN FOR WYD ARE NOT RUNNING AMOK TRASHING AND LOOTING LIKE THE RIOTERS IN ENGLAND!

The protestors have no joy in their lives, bogged down as they are in this world’s affairs, and they are bound and determined not to let anyone else have it, either! 😦 :mad:

Why are people protesting this. World Youth Day is being funded PRIVATELY you dumb dumbs.

Its just their way to trash the Church, that is all. Watch the WYD RealCatholicTv videos so far and you will see this come to fruition.

Makes one wonder what they’d say if Jesus Himself was making a visit…
 
Spain isn’t paying for the papal visit. All the fees are being met by registration fees by the pilgrims,private donors,and corporate sponsors like Coca Cola. The goverment is not paying for anything.
