The Catholic Campaign For Human Development’s 2007 Annual Report (Chicago Archdiocese) listed a $30,000 national grant to a group called Interfaith Leadership Project (ILP). Their accomplishment was described as assisting in the opening of a community-based health clinic in Cicero after securing state funding. This health clinic - the Access Community Health Network Hawthorne Clinic - provides birth control and at least referrals for abortion. I called the clinic but the receptionist was not able to tell me if the clinic actually performed abortions or not. The Access Community Health Network’s website claims that they “… acknowledge a women’s right to choose among the full spectrum of reproductive options…”.
I have been unable to get anyone in the Archdiocese to return my calls. If anyone else in the Archdiocese of Chicago is concerned about this perhaps you could try and contact someone at the office.
