Catholic Colleges or colleges with good CCM groups

So I’ve been looking at some Catholic colleges to possibly attend. First I’m looking at those and then I’ll take a look at secular ones. However, I’d like to find schools with good CCM if I could.

Currently, I’m looking at CUA, Franciscan, DeSales, Christendom (leaning farther away from this based on the majors they offer), and Mount Saint Mary’s. Has anyone heard of anything to be especially wary of at those schools?
Are there any other good, Catholic colleges you could recommend or colleges that have a good Catholic Campus Ministry?

Franciscan is amazing, dude.

Also, check out FOCUS and Saint Paul’s Outreach- they usually have chapters at larger state schools.

As one of the loudest and proudest Fightin’ Texas Aggies, I must recommend to you my university: Texas A&M University! We have one of, if not the largest, Catholic student groups in the United States! There’s lots of activities to do, daily Mass, Adoration between Monday and Friday, and we get plenty of visits from various religious orders because we have many Aggies pursue religious vocations!

I second this general sentiment.

Your best bets are the tiny Catholic colleges, and then your larger state schools, which will have households and good Neumann centers.

Does anyone know if the University of Dallas is in good standing with the Church?

Also, thanks for the suggestions!

From what I’ve heard, absolutely.

I live in the Midwest, but otherwise I’d be strongly considering UD.

What region are you in, if I may ask? How far away do you want to go/are you willing to go?

I’m in the Northeastern part of the US. I’m not sure that I want to go all the way out West for school but I am willing to go at least to the middle of the US if the school is good.

Providence College in Rhode Island, I think, is run by the Dominicans- (one of their faculty was on a podcast I listen to…)

I’m not too familiar with the NE, though, sorry to say…

I’m not completely sure yet. I have some strong interests in psychology (I was told that it’s better to get a undergrad degree in something else and get the psychology dress in graduate school/Phd programs), marketing/business, history, law, and literature.
I’m not completely sure how to narrow it down yet. From what I’ve seen, those colleges do have most of those programs, I’m just not sure if some are stronger than others.

EDIT: I have a relative who went to Baylor and found that their CCM was amazing.

I’d go with a Jesuit university, if you can. I graduated from the University of Scranton, and my boys from Fordham. Georgetown is impressive, probably the best Catholic university in the country. I’ve spent time there, and at Xavier in Cincinnati, Loyola in Chigago and at Boston College, Holy Cross and Fairfield (as well as several that are not in the NE), and found them all wonderful.

Ackkkk! And how could I forget about Detroit Mercy. One of my sons got his masters in engineering there.

Xavier in Cincinnati
I visited there this spring, and did not get a good vibe from there at all. They talked a lot about their Jesuit identity and Jesuit foundations, but very little about Catholicism , which I found off-putting.

Then again, I have a cousin who went there (non-Catholic, mind you, so we had slightly different priorities) and he loved it there- he’s got a great-paying job with the Reds now, thanks to Xavier connections.

As someone who’s doing this search myself right now, the key is to visit, visit, visit.

@Maximilian75 and @AndrewAxland I’ve actually been wary of Jesuit schools. I guess every order has their rogues because we’re human but it seems like their order has a lot of liberals/left leaning priests in it.

I am willing to give some a chance though because perhaps that’s where God is calling me!

A contender for one of the most depressing campuses in the United States. Haven’t been there myself, but it does have a reputation.

I get what you’re saying, and I feel very similarly, but don’t let that discount them completely- give them a fair chance.
