An effort to promote the Common Core educational standards in American Catholic schools has quietly altered a 1st-grade unit to eliminate books that encouraged acceptance of divorce and of same-sex households.

A standardized curriculum which encourages first graders to look favorably on divorce and same sex parenting just seems like it’s starting out all wrong. How can educators trust such a curriculum? The fact that they had to drop these books from the curriculum makes me wonder what is in store for the rest of the grades.
 
My practical solution is to just keep telling my kids the truth so that if they are told a lie at school they are at least hearing the other side of it.
