you seem to have made up your mind.

Who can enjoy the beauty of the dome without, if one remains in the masjid forever?

The same holds true for Catholicism.

I myself could NEVER be muslim, however I recognise the beauty of the faith itself.

I have a feeling that this thread is going disintegrate into a fury of arguments and harsh words but I pray not…

I became Catholic in 2007 after a year of RCIA. I have struggled to be the best Catholic I could be, I studied theology like crazy, I went to Mass, and I followed God.

I have to say that I am impressed with Islam, very very impressed. The Qur’an is like a beautiful ray of light. Muhammad (pbuh) is a wonderful example. The Muslims I know follow Christ’s example better than most Catholics, they are more peaceful and loving than I thought possible. Their devotion to God is absolute. And the evidence for Islam is piling up for me. I know many here have negative opinions about Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet Muhammad and I did too once but now that I have put a lot of time into studying the religion and talking to many people, I have discovered the true Islam. True Islam is not the fanatical religion of the media nor is it a woman-hating, gun-toting, violent mockery of religion as I had been taught. It very well might be the most peaceful faith on earth. God is in Islam, I can’t deny it any longer. Believe me I’ve tried!
I love the Church, but God has led me to Her and God may be leading me to Islam. I am willing to put everything else aside to follow God where He wills, even if I must put aside my beloved Mother Church. I will submit to God in all things, He will lead me where He wills.

I hesitate to ask…thoughts?

Mohammed is not like any of the other prophets.
The quaran contradicts the bible both cannot be true.
Is Mohammed and his life something that should be admired and emmulated?
Just a few thoughts.

When a person accepts Islam they reject Christ.

Irish Dude,

I will hold you in the Light.

Question…why is it, when some mention the “sins” of Catholics as proof that Caholicism may not be true…the “sins” of Muslims are cited to prove Islam is not true?

Just an observation…not an indictment.🙂

Because the Muslim religion, and their religious authorities approve of many of their sins. Multiple wives, child brides, suicide bombing, murdering Muslims who convert to Christianity or Christians who are missionaries to Muslims. All these things are gravely sinful, and Islma approves of them.

The Catholic Church doesn’t approve of the sins of its members.

Christ is Risen!

Thanks for all the responses. First off let me make it clear that I have no intention of converting to Islam at the moment, Its simply overwhelming when you hear so many negative things and lies about a faith only to discover that none of them hold water.

I brought up the actions of the Muslims not to show that actions are what I use to judge the truth of a religion but because I had been taught that Muslims were violent people and its been a shock to realize they all aren’t.

I’m not going to do anything crazy, just continue to study Islam along with many other faiths.

Its still beautiful. 🙂

I am certain though that Muslims are worshiping the same God as Christians and Jews.
If you deny that, you start to get into whether or not the Jews worship the same God which could get pretty messy theologically.

Hi Pax!

Peace Be With You. Please let Christ enter your soul and rest in Him. You seem spiritutally unsettled. Pray this each every time you receive Him in the Eucharist (as well as every time you think about it).

There’s is nothing messy about it. The Jews worshipped God and God has always been the Father, Son and Holy Spirit whether they were aware of it or not. God did not change in any way to come unto us in the Flesh.

Islam however, knowingly denies the Son, part of the Trinity. In other words, God is and always was the Trinity. Muslims take the Son out and worship what is left. They seek to change what is God.

Jews did no such thing.

God Bless you IrishDude!

I am not sure whether or not you have come across this before, but for me, this was the deal breaker when it came to comparing the faiths of Christianity to Islam…

If you accept Islam, then you must believe that Jesus didn’t die on the cross. If Jesus didn’t die, then there can be no resurrection. If Jesus didn’t die, then there was no sacrifice, no redemption, and Old Testament scripture was either wrong, or was referring to someone else who may or may not have come.

In the end, this is what led me to dismiss Islam as incomplete, a journey of faith that doesn’t believe that God humbled Himself to be like us in every way but sin. All His teachings, miracles, revelations, and everyone who died to spread His word, was all in vain. Not to mention, it would also mean Caiphas was right to call out blasphemy.

There are two ladies here who have done apologetics on behalf of Islam’s teaching regarding Jesus’ nature as explained the Quran. They are obviously not casual Muslims, and can answer questions better than most, and I imagine they recognize what I’m typing here right now.

I cannot reconcile the notion that people truly believe the history of Good Friday has been twisted, especially since, technically, nothing that day is considered an earthly miracle, except for the curtain in the Temple, but that’s another discussion. If other people can reconcile it, then for their sake, I hope they are sincere. We cannot both be right. One of us is wrong, and we’ll find out when we get to heaven.

JPII said that the truth found in other religions should be recognized as holy. He also said that we who have the fullness of truth must not become complacent with that possession. We are the one who was given the 10,000, and if we do not return another 10,000 we will have to account for why not.

I also have to wonder just how did you get through RCIA only two years ago and are already questioning it. I hate to tell you, but it seems your instructors did you a grave disservice. You have much yet to learn. Continue to come here, and you’ll be fine.

👍

Islam vs Christianity…my guess is that you don’t know enough about either…🤷

If you are for real [and I have serious doubts], I predict that if you convert to Islam, that in a year or so you will be moving on to some other religion [if they let you live]. It appears that you are not looking for truth but are using a place of worship as a hub of social activities. You need to grow up.

If, on the outside chance, you are serious, here biblestudying.net/islam3.html is an objective analysis of how Islam can’t be true because it contradicts itself.

Sedonaman,
This is a Islamist , writing a fake post just to say that Christians are converting or wanting to convert!
I have read them all before!
Islam is peace, Yeah right!
No body told that to the 2 Catholic girls that were beheaded in Indonesia!
What a load of ****!

LOL, but I could’ve sworn I’ve seen the same dude posting about the Catholic priesthood before. I don’t think someone would go through all that trouble posting all these Catholic things just to try to pretend he’s converting to Islam in the end. 😃

Brother,
That is a terrible thing to say! 😦 On what evidence do you base that awful accusation?! You have no idea what I have lost trying to seek God and find the Truth… The only “social activities” I participated in were the rosary group and Eucharistic Adoration! I left Lifeteen because the masses became too irreverent and I wasn’t able to pray. I could have cared less about “social activities”. Please don’t insult others with such harsh words when you don’t know them…
I’m going to be very frank. This thread of yours is nothing but a hoax and reeks of propaganda. I think you’re just a Muslim troll doing some “dawa”.

Sister,
I am not a troll! I have been posting on this site for a long time! (look at my post number) All I was doing with this thread was to see what my fellow Catholics thought about me being compelled by some of the things in Islam, I wasn’t trying to put any propaganda out there! 😦

Yes that was me! All I have ever done as a Catholic is seek God! I wanted to help lead others to God! I wasn’t lying before and I’m not lying now. I never said I was converting! Its just I’ve been drawn to Islam is all, its up to God where I go.

I knew this thread was a bad idea but I just wanted to see what fellow Catholics thought about it, well I guess I know the kind of reactions I will get from folks now…I’ll just have to rely solely on God to figure this out. I can’t believe how angry everyone got, I never meant to cause any bloody harm! 😦

I’m not sure I should post on this forum anymore…

Hi IrishDude.

Im of the opinion that you are being genuine but you are young and still seeking for more “truths” whatever that may be. Just 2 questions for you. Do you believe Mohammad to be a true prophet of God? and can you give me examples of the “peacefulness” and “beauty” of Islam.

What were you before you became a Catholic in 2007?
I have to say that I am impressed with Islam, very very impressed.
What is it that impressed you to islam?
The Qur’an is like a beautiful ray of light.
Can you please be specific what parts of the koran is “like a beatuful ray of light” that impressed you?
Muhammad (pbuh) is a wonderful example.
Can you please explain the wonderfulness of mohamad as a wonderful example?
The Muslims I know follow Christ’s example better than most Catholics,
In what sense? Please share with us how you follow Christs example better than most Catholics.
they are more peaceful and loving than I thought possible. Their devotion to God is absolute. And the evidence for Islam is piling up for me.
Kindly help us understand your evidence for islam piling up for you that Catholosism hasn’t since you already told us that you “follow Christs example”.
I know many here have negative opinions about Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet Muhammad and I did too once but now that I have put a lot of time into studying the religion and talking to many people, I have discovered the true Islam.
We have asked our muslim members if “true islam” exists and if I am not mistaken, they all agree that it does not exist. How do you see “true islam”?
True Islam is not the fanatical religion of the media nor is it a woman-hating, gun-toting, violent mockery of religion as I had been taught. It very well might be the most peaceful faith on earth.
Not every muslim is a terrorist, gun-toting…etc… but these past couple of decades, every terrorist has been a muslim. Kindly tell us your experience with the “peaceful faith on earth”?
God is in Islam,
Our gracious God is everwhere! 👍
I can’t deny it any longer. Believe me I’ve tried!
What is it that you are trying to deny that you cannot take any longer?
I love the Church, but God has led me to Her and God may be leading me to Islam. I am willing to put everything else aside to follow God where He wills, even if I must put aside my beloved Mother Church. I will submit to God in all things, He will lead me where He wills.
God does not deceive His Believers. How has God led you way from the Church and into islam?
I hesitate to ask…thoughts?
My thoughts are into my questions…
please keep it civil
I believe my inquiry is very civil!

Don’t worry about it dude…I’d take most things on these forums with a grain of salt since many people here aren’t exactly the nicest people I’ve encountered. Some people take things way too seriously, heheh.

If you don’t come back…I just want to say…stop reading those books!! LOL, they will just make you more confused. 😃 Even Catholic theology books can burn you out if you read too much. There’s such thing as too much of a good thing. Personally, I find Lives of the Saints and Eucharistic Miracle books to be interesting reads. 👍

Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust by Immaculee Ilibagiza is a nice book about a Catholic who found the strength to forgive even after she encountered so much evil. St. Faustina’s Diary and Mother Teresa’s Come Be My Light are also good books. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the Bible and Catechism, but I wouldn’t call them leisure reading though, haha.
