A friend is setting me up on a blind date with a protestant & I’ve been taking to someone on catholicmatch. I don’t know if I should accept the blind date or not.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what I should do?

Dating more than one person at the same time is not cheating, as long as you’ve not declared any relationship as “exclusive”.

I would have deal breakers if I were dating. Faith would be one of them. I could not marry someone who was not a practicing Catholic.

You have to determine your own deal breakers.

Sure it’s okay to date a protestant. It’s also legal to not wear a helmet when you drive a motorcycle in Florida as long as you have insurance.

Some decisions are okay but not wise. Up to you.

From someone who grew up in a mixed-faith household, the mother of your children are DEFINITELY going to influence the faith of your children.

I wouldn’t date a non-Catholic.

Dude just give the protestant lady a chance. You never know the catholic lady you’re talking to could be some wacko or a phony catholic.

Although I guess I’m a little biased because I’m currently dating a protestant girl whose way holier than any Catholic I ever have met (not to say there aren’t Catholics who are holy.)

When I was single I would not consider anyone other than a practicing Catholic. A protestant practicing their faith would be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Do you want your life partner to be with you in church, receive the Eucharist reverently, go to confession, do the sign of the cross? Do you want your partner to model that for any children you would be blessed to have? Would you want someone who goes to the Blessed Mother for guidance and strength because there will be difficult days over the years together. The rosary is powerful. A protestant partner will protest these things that give us life! Don’t even start down that path. Wisdom to you!

I personally think it’s better to be single than to marry a non-catholic

Nope.

If I were dating it would be for the purpose of finding a spouse, for romance. Why would I risk heartbreak by getting my heart tangled up with a man who does not share my faith? Life has enough difficulties.

Again, that is simply my deal breaker.

dating isn’t just about finding a spouse, sometimes it’s okay to just go out on a date without any intention of marrying, but just to go out for the weekend. that’s just my opinion though

Accept it. If you don’t like them, they may have a Catholic friend. And some Protestants make very nice spouses. Some even convert.

Hallelujah, an honest and sane voice of reason in the wilderness.

Though after reading your post about the motorcycle helmet, I may have to take it back.
My dad was a Protestant who converted and my husband was a Protestant who didn’t.

I am worried about dating multiple people yes, but more so my concern is would I even try with someone who’s a protestant if I have someone chance with someone catholic?
There is nothing wrong with “dating multiple people”. It’s not like you’re on the verge of getting engaged to one of them. You’ve barely met them. Just be honest if you are not seeing someone exclusively.
