I have to admit I have seen no coverage of this in Catholic news sources (but I am in the UK). Is this something big in the US?

Unfortunately in the US, this filled with a lot of Social Justice Warriors - some of whom are not as big on the Catechism as they are with equal rights.

So unfortunately, I think it pushes faithful Catholics away 😦

Our Diocese is holding a special prayer vigil tonight at 6 PM.

What is it all about? Never heard of it either. Who is “in charge” or publicizing it?

Oh, I’m sorry, you said it sounded cool, so I thought you knew something about it.

No problem. I just think that a Catholic day of action sounds cool. Although we should be active every day.

Exactly. That’s why a “day” sounds weird.
My city has a special day and though it started out as a good idea, it ended up being a publicity day for businesses and organizations. “Look at us! We’re helping!”

From what I can gather there have been protests over the rights of children of immigrants. I’ve only really seen it on Twitter but it looks like a worthy cause with quite a number of religious involved. There was one last year too I believe.

The Catholic Day of Action seems to be something started by this group, from a quick Internet search:

I haven’t heard of these guys and I can’t find any acceptable Catholic source like the National Catholic Register giving more info on these guys.

Working for equal rights shouldn’t push any faithful Catholic away. Concern for the rights of others is very Catholic.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. What you say is very true.

However, that’s not really what I meant - I was trying to let people read between the lines without going into depth.

I’m talking about the ones who only (or primarily) focus social justice issues while disagreeing with Church dogma and doctrine. I.E. they call for Holy Orders for women, same-sex marriage, ok with divorce with remarriage, say birth control isn’t a sin, don’t believe confession is a sacrament, etc. Plus, some of them even think it’s ok to have legal abortion.

Those are the ones I’m talking about. I’m not talking about people who follow the Catechism and Bible 100%.

The social justice warriors I’m familiar with meet the description above. I’ve never heard of the ones below, at least, not in a Catholic sense. (I know they’re out there - just never heard them described as SJWs.)

I’ve met some of them. They protest outside our Cathedral every Holy Thursday demanding women priests.

Too bad ☹️ There’s probably so much they could be doing to be productive for the Church if they would bother to learn and understand. Sounds like they’re following the faith of “me” instead.
