Catholic diet/ workout book recommendations?

Earlier this year I did one of Fr. Heilman’s novenas that had a 10,000 steps a day suggested penance. I did the penance most days and having since gone on a few trips involving a lot of walking, I can feel that it helped me get a bit more fit as I’m walking better. I’d like to find some books or study websites that help build on that for fitness and weight loss, as I am completely unmotivated to do things for just my own looks or health, but get quite motivated when it involves doing for God or even for others (like a charity fundraiser).

I see quite a few of these books on Amazon and would appreciate any recommendations, especially if the stuff in the book can be done by a middle-aged woman with a desk/ couch job rather than by a gym instructor or Navy SEAL. If there are websites or apps I’d be interested in those too.

Please, no books involving fasting (this beyond Church requirements and maybe 1 day a week extra is not good for my physical or mental health), emphasis on the philosopical over the practical, or " body image". I’m fine with body image at my age – what I really want is a book that will enable me to work towards better health by losing some weight and being able to hike 5 miles and climb 300 steps regularly and easily while bringing me closer to God.

So I’ll put in my two cents. I personally don’t see the need for a book in this situation. You’re already using walking as a penance directed toward the divine. Maybe continue that way or use the walking time as a meditation practice maybe with or without a rosary or some other devotion you may have. You’ve been around long enough from what I’ve read here on caf to know of offering things to God that are done throughout the day.
Hope this may have been a bit helpful though off topic a little. Take care.

Thanks - I typically did pray at least three chaplets per walk. I’d like to do some things besides walking though. It was a penance primarily because it took up a massive amount of my time in view that I work full time and have a lot of responsibilities. It is also hard to do in the winter unless I walk on a treadmill or indoor track, which is a bit dull. I may get a stair stepper.

If you don’t have a lot of room I’d recommend an old-school Wii and the game “Exerbeats” its great for me for indoor exercise during the winter.
