Dear HappyNoodleCat, please note that while Muslim men may marry Catholic women and that Catholic men/women may marry Muslims, the Catholic church is very specific in that it requires you, as a Catholic, to baptize your children and to raise your children as Catholic. If you want to remain Catholic in good standing, you will be required to marry in the Catholic church AND to raise your children Catholic. If you do not see any problem with your children being raised Muslim, then you are, in fact, doubting your own religion. The greatest love you can give your children is their salvation - their gift of Catholic faith. You will be required to baptize your children as Catholics and to provide them with a Catholic religious education as well as to take them to Catholic mass weekly. There are many Catholics in Muslim countries. I encourage you to contact your diocese’s cultural diversity committee or contact the cultural diversity committee in a larger diocese where there are Catholics from Muslim countries represented on the committee. They will be able to describe to you life as a Catholic in those countries and they will probably know someone in a mixed-religious marriage between Catholics and Muslims. I applaud you for doing your homework now before you become engaged.
