Not to be confused with the homosexual ‘men’ who have infected the priesthood and so damaged the Church. Catholic girly men are most likely heterosexual and aren’t necessarily effeminate in their manners but are girly in that they are motivated by their feelings and emotions rather than their intellect. Catholic girly men can be bishops, priests or laymen.
For example, Catholic girly men will think that the Church is unjust for not ordaining women. They are unwilling to consider the Church’s teaching about not ordaining women because they consider it discrimination.
However, Catholic girly aren’t necessarily heterdox in their Catholic Faith.
Catholic girly men think that having girl altar boys is right because it would be unfair to have only boys serve the altar. Plus those little girls look so cute at the front ofo the Church during Mass.
Catholic girly men like to hold hands during the Pater Noster and may even reach across the aisle to do so.
Catholic girly men think that the hand shaking at the sign of peace is one of the high points of the Mass because it helps us ‘feel’ like community.
Catholic girly men think that it is important or good that Catholic Churches have a greeter(s) prior to the Mass so the people ‘feel’ welcome while never giving a thought that perhaps praying the Rosary as a group prior to Mass would actually be efficacious.
Catholic girly men like to address their priest as Fr. Bob as opposed to Fr. Smith because, you know, Fr. Bob is just like one of us.
Catholic girly men make sure to always use words like ‘laypeople’ and ‘humankind’, because we wouldn’t want to offend anyone by using the proper English ‘laymen’ and ‘mankind’.
Catholic girly men like to sing Glory and Praise ditties but don’t care much for traditional hymns.
Catholic girly men like to actively participate in the Mass by being lectors or by distributing Holy Communion because it is a way of giving back to the Church when in actuality both these ‘ministries’ really don’t accomplish anything other than blurring the distinction between the laity and the priesthood.
Catholic gilry men don’t like the Mass celebrated in Latin because it’s a ‘dead’ language and they don’t understand Latin. Never mind that traditional missals have the Latin and vernacular language on facing pages so laymen can easily follow along but further untold numbers of young Catholics (under 10 years of age) are able to learn the Latin and recite the responses.
Catholic girly men don’t like to receive Holy Commuion on the tongue because it’s like they’re sticking their tongue out at Jesus or some other cockamamie reason.
Catholic girly men don’t think proper dress for Mass is really very important because at least those inappropriately dressed people are coming to Church.
Catholic girly men are uncomfortable when the topics of abortion, contraception, sin, Hell etc. are spoken of during the sermon not because they disagree with Church teaching on these topics but because they are concerned that orthodox teaching on these topics from the pulpit can upset people and drive them away from the Church.
