I can’t agree. Go by the Democrats For Life website, and judge if these are just nominally pro-life.
I’ve never voted for a Republican for any national office, and where I can’t bring myself to vote for the Dem, I just won’t vote for either candidate.
Not sure how to take the “I’ve never voted for a Republican for any national office, and where I can’t bring myself to vote for the Dem, I just won’t vote for either”. It just seems IMHO that to blanketly refuse to vote for a PARTY or to NOT VOTE AT ALL that party is put before beliefs. I respect your opinion to not vote for someone if you don’t believe what they stand for. I mostly wonder how you or anyone justify the refusal to vote period.

I vote for individual candidates. Never pulled the “party” lever once. But, on the other hand, I have never left a ballot blank. There is always the write-in option. For in my opinion to not vote is to be responsible for the end result good or bad. Many elections have been won or lost with just a handful of votes. Remember that evil can come from complacency.

Sounds like the pro-life movement needs better lawyers.
No, we need to appoint wiser judges.

Any judge who would not recognize the inherent personhood of the unborn is no better than the ones who voted in favor of Dred Scott.

I do vote sometimes for Republican candidates on the state level, Kathleen. But, my dislike of the Republican Party means that if the Dem candidate isn’t acceptable - militantly pro-abortion, e.g., I’m left without a vote unless I vote Green or Libertarian, etc. Which is hardly more than no vote at all. IMO.

SAN DIEGO, CA—Catholic Answers Action has denounced the “Statement of Principles” released last week by fifty-five Catholic Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

You can’t agree to beware? Just blindly accept their claim that they’re pro-life?

Perhaps this is more acceptable: Beware of ALL politicians who claim to be pro-life. Look at their voting records. Look at whether they truly support pro-life legislation and reject legislation that destroys life.

Notice this statement on the Democrats for Life website: (democratsforlife.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=172&Itemid=54):
Governor
There are currently 3 pro-life Democrat Governors, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kathleen Blanco of Louisiana and Tim Kaine of Virginia. We hope that 2 more Bill Ritter from Colorado and Lucy Baxley from Alabama will join the ranks.

Now follow the link to Bill Ritter’s website and see what he’s going to do about abortion ( ritterforgovernor.com/issuesPR.cfm ):
Here are Bill Ritter’s so-called “pro-life” views:

As I said, beware.

I truly thought I was going to have praise for Democrats for Life when I visited their website. Perhaps Bill Ritter was an oversight on their part, or perhaps they’re trying to deceive people and really don’t have life issues as a priority. Perhaps they don’t mean what I think they mean when they say Democrats for Life. Perhaps what they really mean is “put Democrats in office for life”.

As far as “pro-life” Bill Ritter, what a crock. Tell me, how does he differ from a pro-choice politician? How does his Catholic faith influence his public life? I don’t care about his personal beliefs, I care about what he’s going to do. If his personal beliefs have no affect on his actions then it’s absolutely worthless to me as a voter. Don’t even bother sharing them with us Bill. Of course, those who wish to find any excuse to vote Democrat will hear “pro-life” and Bill Ritter in the same sentence and fool their consciences. Time to wake up folks.
It’s always interesting to see politicians tell you they are personally against abortion but that they can’t force their morals on the rest of us. Huh? I don’t call that pro-life. I think it advisable to go back and look at the various issues before Congress that involved abortion, of all kinds, and associated issues and see how the candidate voted. What they tell you when home with constituents is not necessarily the way it is in D.C. Unfortunately too many Catholics seem to put party over faith when voting.
