According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church: “The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him.”

Read Ordinatio Sacerdotalis. The Church has no authority to ordain women. It’s not something that a “group” can change. It’s not about “allowed to”. It’s not something that is possible due to the nature of Holy Orders.

It wasn’t changed by the Arians or the many other heresies
It wasn’t changed by Luther
It wasn’t changed by the Old Catholics
Compared to those this little group is nothing.
The Holy Spirit is the guide not some self important heretics.

Actually, the petition isn’t in support of women’s ordination. Its in support of Fr. Bourgeois. Granted, Fr. Bourgeois’ support for women’s ordination has led to his excommunication and likely expulsion from the Maryknoll order and likely loss of his priestly faculties. But the distinction between a vague support for Fr. Bourgeois’ right of conscience and a support for women’s ordination seems to be important.

I wonder if the priest who signed it knew that he was excommunicated for his participation in a woman’s “ordination” and that is what they are really supporting.:mad: under the guise of speaking from his conscience.:rolleyes:

I just don’t get it. If you don’t want to be Catholic, don’t be Catholic. There are many flavors of Christianity out there. But if you do want to be Catholic, humble yourself and be obedient to Mother Church. Isn’t it obvious that this is not OUR Church but a Church given to us by the Father through Jesus Christ, and that therefore we can’t just do what we want to and change teachings that are already Doctrines of our faith? Let’s pray for these and all dissenters that the grace, mercy, and love of God be with them through their days of confusion. And please quit using political terms like liberal and conservative to explain what kind of Catholic you consider yourself. It is inappropriate. If you want to make distinctions please use orthodox or lax. God bless and God love you.

I’d never attened a Catholic Church with a women as a Priest! Women should not be a Priest. If Jesus wanted women as Priest he would have said so. Women have many places within the Church. Being a Priest is NOT one of them.

No one has ever attended a Catholic Church with a woman as a Priest. No one ever will.

That is why the media is so dangerous. They say something like that and people believe. How many people out there is not well infromed about the faith and when reading this come to believe this to be true.

The media is being used to attack the Church and has been quite sucessful. The anti Christ of our time.

A good point. We are doing a lousy job of teaching our faith. The ill informed are the most gullible.
