Paris (AFP) - A French court banned Lars von Trier’s ultra-violent film “Antichrist” on Wednesday, with the Catholic group who brought the case also threatening to have Quentin Tarantino’s new film also pulled from cinemas.
The traditionalist group Promouvoir (Promote) said the US director’s Western “The Hateful Eight” – which is in the running for three Oscars later this month – had been “granted its certificate illegally”.
It also threatened to take action against the French teen film “Bang Gang”, one of the hits of this year’s Toronto film festival.

Despite his popularity (sign of the times) I think Tarantino is a very disturbed individual. He seems obsessed with the idea of making movies where whites commit horrific crimes against minorities who then carry out an equally horrific revenge. You’d think he’d be considered a one trick pony by now, but not with the limited scope of modern movie go’ers.

And yet, he decries police brutality and is pro-gun control.

I agree. I am surprised Jamie Fox and Samuel Jackson don’t get flack from the NAACP for appearing in his movies where the N word is used over and over again. he seems obsessed with slavery too.
Tarantino drew ire from the police departments where he was protesting police brutality. I know S. Jackson is liberal. Not sure about Fox. I find Tarantino’s movies very hard to watch.

Jamie Foxx, if I remember correctly, is the one who referred to Mr. President as “our Lord and savior Barack Obama”.

I agree about his obsessions. I think what some more reasonable moviegoers (I like to think Im one of those) find appealing in his movies is the clever dialogue (minus the obscenities and racial slurs) he can write. Haven’t seen Hateful Eight, doubt that I will.

I agree - clever dialogues and interesting storylines, but way too many obscenities and racial slurs.
