REALISTICALLY you will find MORE than a 100 people who do understand the Catholic faith but still disagree.
FJS is speaking metaphorically.
Does it mean until I studied "Catholicism " enough I will become Catholic? Until that point I do not understand it? Because if I did, I would have been Catholic?
I’d say that’s valid

My experience is that the hatred mostly comes from Protestants, not from modernists or atheists. Sad because we have Christ in common with them.

His point still stands-
the majority of people don’t hate the RCC
They hate what they think the RCC is

Well the actual fact is that very few people actually HATE the CC in the first place.

I know a very elderly Methodist man who is also both a Mason and Shriner and he thinks Catholics “only donate to themselves”, says the Catholics in his family don’t associate with the Protestants(will eat at a different table than them), have to bury themselves only in Catholic cemetaries, and helped the Nazis escape during WW2.

He also thinks Catholics are “the poor” while Methodists are wealthier people…

Are you talking about the Christian forum that you once linked? because I am still recovering from the experience.

Jesus wouldn’t confuse people with like 500 different meanings of what He meant, or we’d never be able to follow Him. That’s when “authority” really would be respected. But Jesus made clear everything He taught. Because we don’t understand what’s literal, and what’s figurative, we need authority who can give one answer.

My point is rather that the world is not the USA. I live in a 90% Christian country and I have no idea what you or any on here are getting at. The world is really bigger out there.

We got those S. Anderson characters (actually he was banned from entering… true story) well but honestly, nobody takes them seriously.

Well, the quote you based your objecton off of was concerning America

Well in that case carry on.

I have had to explain on some thread that th KJV is not only an English Protestant Bible as we all do not speak English as a first language. It still seem to be a hard thing to grasp as that thread is still going on.

Why is there so much hatred towards the Catholic church?
Several reasons, and none that you can do much about.

More Catholics than any other group out there, the biggest target attracts the most arrows.

Further, there are a lot more people around that have nit to pick with individual Catholic. A Catholic gives someone a hard time, people sometimes don’t forget. A lot fewer baptists or shintoists out there to rub people the wrong way.

Also, the English speaking world has a long term feud with the Catholic church dating from the Reformation. During that epoch, Spain and England were the great world powers and rivals. Religion is one of the big areas of dispute. The black legend about the Spanish inquisition, the Spanish Armada, the gunpowder plot, there was a lot of hatred and paranoia over the years. Mass was outlawed in England for a couple centuries.

This is America’s heritage, we inherited it from England, even those of us whose own ancestors came from elsewhere.

Lastly, all of this came down after Gutenberg and the proliferation of books and written materials. People didn’t forget- even the things that weren’t true.

I would begin by asking yourself if there is anything, or anyone you hate.
reasons for hatred are universally human, despite the reality that Jesus taught …
we are all better off without hate.
issues of language usage might be relevant, but these relate more closely to anger.
if anger is related to hate, it merely proves that hate is without substantiation.

they hate their life in the world. the only example of hate Jesus said. would that be accurate?
