Is that so? And I suppose there are no paedophiles in protestant churches?

Sweetheart, you better start doing some real research. You will be quite shocked.
One guy told me about a Scout Master. There are teachers who abuse their pupils. I know of Protestant ministers who have done the same.

There is a Protestant church here and the people flock to it. The minister has been divorced and every now and then his current blond wife throws him out of the house. They live in the lap of luxury - their home has been photographed in decorators magazines (very kitch and rich).

Now go and see how Catholic priests live - see the cars they drive. I do believe that there are Methodist and Anglican ministers who also have a modest lifestyle.

It is those mega churches (some of them even franchise their church) that make a lot of money which is used for self agrandisement rather than for the poor and the needy.

I will not criticise the mainline Protestant churches because I know they are good. I have donated money to the Salvation Army because I know they are sincere and do good. The Catholic charities give to all peoples - Christians and non-Christians. They don’t ask if you are a Catholic - your poverty qualifies you to receive Charity.

I am SICK and TIRED of people who make it a hobby to criticise the Catholic Church. As I have said before - they diminish themselves.

It epitomizes how it was handled.
Did you not read my entire post?

Had this been 500 years ago without modern communications the RCC would never would have had to deal with it and the abuse would still be going on.How ignorant and uncharitable you are. You know NOTHING of the Catholic Church! But you have an opinion!😦
This is why you guys still dont get the Reformation. The RCC was a corrupt abusive institution that cared not about the souls of the people but only in the institution itself.

Care to elucidate on this sweeping statement?
Your post is rather thin on facts.

What compromises?
What pagan practices?
What is the root?
When was the root established.
When did the Roman Catholic Church depart from the root.

Once you’ve provided these then an intelligient discussion can ensue.🙂

I have a question for you as well. Do you believe 100% in the Bible?

I believe the bible 100% but know that God has not stopped revealing Himself to His people.

Some years ago there was this silverhaired wellknown golfer (I think) quite wellknown in the US who was interviewed by CNN regarding abuse by priests.

This man alleged that he was abused by his parish Priest who was well loved and a friend of the family. He claims the Priest abused him from a very early age until High School. He then went on to say that the Priest had officiated at his wedding. Well !!! :bigyikes:

Would anyone in their right mind have asked a priest who abused them to officiate at their wedding??? This is crazy!!! :tsktsk:

When I was a little girl a young man (he might have been about 18 or 19 and I was only about 7) and his parents were visiting us and he gave me a “piggy back” and in the process touch me… I immediately wiggled off him and ran away. I remember seeing him several years later on a bus - my heart beat faster in fear and I immediately got off at the next stop. My Mother was always telling me to look out for dirty men and people with impure actions. While I always thought my Mother was unnecessarily suspicious I realise now that she was so right! Her warnings DID affect me and cause me to be careful.

I would have been devastated if anyone had abused me and I do understand that some children might be shy to react when someone in authority were to touch them. Still I think many children would react like I did. Parents must instil in their children a culture of purity and the avoidance of abusive actions.

But then look at the media - look at the movies - look at our secular society. If I were a little girl in today’s world I don’t know what would become of me!!!

I think we should properly examine circumstances and situations before we pronounce ourselves. These people to feel qualified to pass judgement should remember Jesus’ teachings.

We should all be fighting the evils of our time and stop pointing fingers at the Catholic Church. All the peoples of the world have a lot to thank the Catholic Church for.

We are not perfect but we are getting there…

If you believed 100% in the Bible then you would believe in Jesus’ teachings and you would believe in the Catholic Church.

If you could just wipe your mind clean for a moment and then read your bible, read Church history and, if you are interested, the Catechism of the Catholic Church - you would definitely have a more balanced view and you would not make such outrageous statements.

🙂

And it cared so little about the souls of the people that it turned straight around (well, as fast as such a huge institution can - it’s a bit like turning an huge ocean liner around) and at Trent condemned some of the very same corrupt practices that Luther condemned? And invited Protestants to take part in the Council proceedings and offered them safe conduct (from the Emperor mind you, who was much less tolerant than the Church)?

Like the sale of indulgences? How is the Church essentially agreeing with Luther that something was wrong, inviting his followers to the table to talk about it, and banning more than one corrupt behaviour that they had criticised, equivalent to caring more about the institution than about souls?

You better review your history facts again. Of all churches, only RCC is acknowledged by scholars as the one closest to original teachings of Apostles and Early Fathers. Others invented their own doctrines under the guise of reformation against abuses. For example, Sola Scriptura which is not found in the Bible.

I really don’t get it regarding SS!!! People far more intelligent than I buy into SS and it just doesn’t make sense. To me it is as clear as crystal!

Yes, if you are seeped in history…!

The RCC is for everyone. If you don’t accept it OK but don’t trash it - people who do that are unworthy of themselves - they diminish themselves.

🙂

Reformation is nothing but throwing the baby with the dirty water. Even Luther regretted it but was too late. Corrupt and abusive?
Consider this:
  • Reformation church in England was started by the most immoral king in history after failing to extort an annulment.
  • Calvinists in France murdered thousands during their heyday.
  • Sexual abuse:
Having no central authority, the federal investigators fid sex crimes among protestant churches difficult to investigate. Still, some statistics can be gleaned from three insurance companies that provide liability coverage for 165,500 Protestant churches in the United States:
  • The largest company, Church Mutual of Merrill, Wis., with 96,000 clients including the Wyoming Conference, reported an annual average of 100 child sex abuse cases during the past decade.
  • GuideOne, headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, reported an average of 160 reports every year for the past two decades among its 45,000 clients.
  • About 75 claims have been investigated by Brotherhood Mutual in Fort Wayne, Ind., each year for the past 15 years, but the company did not specify if all complaints involved minors.
Officials from all three insurance companies said the number of cases has remained steady during the past two decades. The data released to The Associated Press did not include information about whether the accused was found guilty by church or legal jurisdictions.

Throwing stones when you live in a glass house yourself.

Reading comprehension is your firiend.
Read real slowly, it was not the abuse itself but the way the abuse was handled.

BTW when did two wrongs ever make one right?

Hi Hisalone!

Please tell me about how the abuse was handled? I need to know as I have very little detail.

Thank you
Cinette

do you deny reading in the Bible that Jesus spoke to those already dead? did you not read the parable of the Lazarus and the rich man? what is your problem? are you that blind?

Peace.

So, according to the Bible, any and all statues are verboten?

I agree. that is why Catholics do not do it. It is why we consider necromancy and seances, not to mention weeja boards, serious sins.

Wisdom thanks for your questions.

Those that have passed from this life to the next but are alive in heaven Jesus said are alive and not dead----which they truly are/
This would include Samuel who from his youth walked with God.
When Saul attempted to contact Samuel after he passed he was roundly rebuked. Jesus came to be your intermediator we are to talk and pray to Him.

The dialogue between Abraham and the rich man has nothing to do with you talking to dead asking them to pray for you.
It wasnt done by the Jews but done by pagans.
STOP COMPROMISING!

Jesus was not born in December–Most likely in late September early October why do you celebrate His birth on a day other than he was born? Because you made it coincide with a pagan holiday. Jesus crucifixion coincided with Passover. Why do you now celebrate coinciding with a pagan holiday. STOP COMPROMISING!!!

So, according to the Bible, any and all statues are verboten?

Pagans had statues in their places of worhip. Statues were not part of the Jewish home or worship.STOP COMPROMISING!!!

NO Im not Mormon. A born again spirit filled Christian just like the first century ones.

The priest sex scandal epitomizes what is wrong with the RCC.
  1. At first they denied what had happened and blamed the accusors and sadly the victims.
  2. rather than confront their “sin” they moved the offennders around to victimize others.
3)When overwhelming evidence mounted up against them they moved to a cut the loss strategy.
4)During this process there was no concern with those that had been abused.
  3. They paid out large amounts of money to make this thing go away.
6)And only then was the issue how to deal withthe abusers dealt with. And then so that they could say that they put this behind them there was an apology to the victims.
Had this been 500 years ago without modern communications the RCC would never would have had to deal with it and the abuse would still be going on.
The Catholic church has THE LOWEST MOLESTATION RATE THAN ALL THE OTHER DENOMINATIONS. As soon as something happens in the Catholic church, people are all over it. But the other churches it is hushed up. WWW.REFORMATION.COM will give you the answers. Face it Hisalone, the Catholic church will NEVER be destroyed no matter how bad you and others may want this. It has stood for 2,000 years, and not because of the cleverness of the Bishops, but because it is guided by the Holy Spirit. As soon as non-Catholics understand this, the better off they’ll be in stopping the bashing of the church which Christ founded. Remember, THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL and they haven’t.
