In a letter to dioceses and religious orders I think in 2001? I’ll try to find it for you… Rome advised superiors who had men who identified as transgender to 1.care for them 2. they would not be allowed to be priests any longer and 3. gave some norms of what the Church taught exactly as of right now regarding surgery. I think planetout.com actually gave a review of this when it came out. My research is in gender studies with an emphasis in transgender issues. I was pleasantly surprised myself at this letter.
