Ok, so I have absolutely become enthralled with the missal and now have accumulated a couple different ones. When I am working and the patient is sleeping, I have a 1966 Mary Knoll daily (doesn’t align with EWTN) and I go through the daily service on my own. The order of mass is marked with a ribbon and I flip back and forth interjecting the corresponding readings. Where do the saints come in? Or is that an additional mass? So then I rounded up a couple old traditional missals from before the mass was changed. I’m not a Catholic but there seems to be schism going on between the old timers and the new style. I have found the old style to my liking. It’s like comparing a Rolls Royce (traditional) to a beat up Honda civic (new). The old one seems a lot more inspiring and reverential. That’s just my opinion but the new one seems cheap. Not for me.
So I am wondering that in the new Roman missal they have a 3 year cycle for daily mass but the old Mary Knoll and St Andrews don’t and it doesn’t line up with what I see online. But I have to say that whatever one I read, I really am being blessed. Still haven’t been to a mass yet. But I am definitely interested.
The most exciting thing is I was able to buy a D R edition of the Bible. My dad used to tell me the Catholic bible is the same as my King James so I would warm up to it. NO IT IS NOT! And I am glad to be able to see the difference. Anyhow, I am so hooked on the missal because in a sense I feel like I can go to church more than I am able to. Oh and one more thing, I found this little book of prayers by F.X.Lasance , AWESOME!!! What a blessing. And have been doing correspondence course throu by KofC. OK gotta go!
