My friends, I have got to ask but are any of you aware of the catholic league, and their president William Donohue. It’s the league and not to mention the man whom combats anti-catholicism.

Take a look my brothers and sisters:

Any thoughts, comments, I’m all ears, in this case eyes 🙂 👍

These guys are fighting on the front lines. I got sick just reading about some of the stuff they have to combat.

Just from the cursory stuff I looked at, it’s a great group.

IMHO they are a great group, doing what is needed, being outh there defending the faith.

Although sometimes they can go a little overboard. Sometimes coming off more as an attack then a defense.

What a great group! Certainly all first round draft choices, in NFL terms. 🙂

I frequently look at their site and I know many of their press releases are quoted here.

Bill Buckley wrote an article saying, oh, the Catholic League - its really just one guy with a computer who talks loud. Well, I guess in a way, we are all just guys with computers.

But Bill Donahue is loud and good, too. I always feel cheery when I hear his name listed as an upcoming guest on TV or radio. I know no one can do my religion harm while he is there defending the faith. BRAVO, MR. DONAHUE!

I am aware of the Catholic league and thankful. Mr. Donohue went after Showtime for that outrageous piece on Mother Teresa. When we asked our Bishop (Rockville Cntre, NY William Murphy) to speak up he said he left it in the hands of Mr. Donohue.

You know, when I first became aware of the catholic league’s existence. I have learned so much. I was so surprised about all of the anti-catholic incidents that have happened and continue to happen. Such as grafitti on catholic churches, vandalism, arson, threats, offensive religious jokes and slurs, even assaults, and what we are becoming increasing aware of the anti-catholic media.

Out of all the information the catholic league provided, the sourses that I find most helpful is the catholic league’s annual reports from 1997 to present. Soon the 2005 anti-catholic report will be submitted.

I’m thankful the Mr. Donohue isn’t afraid to combat this childish anti-catholic plague that we all have to face.

As for the vicious attack on the blessed Mother Teresa, that was from viacom, so I’m told.

I mean the man has gone after people like Bill Clinton, Barbara Walters, Ted Turner, Larry King, Oprah Winfrey, Cher, Senator Feinstein, etc, etc.

Wow, I’m amazed to see that many replied to this topic 🙂

Bottom line, I support the catholic league, and these people are in my prayers.

Bill Donohue is an amazing man.

Like a poster above said, I always perk up when I hear he’s going to be on Fox or EWTN. He doesn’t pull any punches and is a fierce defender of our faith. God Bless Mr. Donohue!!

Wonder if he knows about these forums…???

I joined the Catholic League after I saw William Donohue explain why the anti-Catholic film “Dogma” was so bad, and how Hollywood and the ACLU have been waging war on the Faithhful (magisterial supporting and orthodox Catholics) for years.
The show was one of the cable shows just after the movie came out, I believe it was back in 1999.

You can join the Catholic League by going to their web site.

I went to see Bill Donohue speak at the beginning of November at a dinner with my Mom. Before the dinner started Mom walked up to him and thanked him for all the work he does. He started right in telling her how the League started and going right into the stuff that they do. A friendly guy, who believes in what he is doing and loves to talk about it.

I give the man a pat on the back for combatting so many insults that hit the church daily. Plus, in my book Mr. Donohue should get a medal for his job, perhaps the Nobel peace Prize. 😃

🙂 🙂 🙂 This league sounds awesome…something the Catholic Church really needs… 🙂 👍

Meh… I think Bill Donohue, in his Catholic Leaque releases, comes across as strident and over-zealous. Sometimes he does good, but other times… well, I don’t subscribe to their mail list for a reason. 😉

But he was interviewed by Stephen Colbert and came across as a genuinely nice guy.
The interview is worth a look:

Sometimes he may sound a little strident. But then sometimes one cannot defend the faith as he does so often without sounding so. Some of the things he has had to put up with are sickening. When I have seen him, I find myself saying “Go, Bill”.

It is nice to have someone stand up to the Bill Maher, Robin Williams, Rosie OD, Chris Hitchens, and all the rest of their ilk.
Im going to have a look at the Catholic League.

My husband and I are LIFE Members of the Catholic League…

They may seem strident but I can tell you that when you are confronted with anti-catholic bigetry ‘face to face’ you begin to understand why they sound that way.

For example: several year ago on Easter Sunday our largest state paper ran a full page advertisement by a radically anti-catholic group. That adbertisement indentify the Catholic Church, the Pope and catholics with every evil under the sun. It identified the Church with the Whoe of Babylon and the Pope as the anti Christ. Blamed all manner of evil…killings, murder, etc on the Church.

again, about 10 years ago, a city sponsored parade in one of our largest cities awarded top prize to the float called “Pope Fiction”. The people on the float were dressed as priests, nuns, bishops and monks. The float stopped in front of a catholic church along the parade route and exposed their buttocks on the church steps.

It is groups like the catholic league who shine the light of truth on this bigotry…’

and not just for catholics, they champion Christianity and the Jewish faith when necessary…

The Catholic League has its place but the NOR has done exposes in Donohue’s salary, how he/the League has soft-peddaled the minor sex abuse scandal and such. The organization is “bought” in its own way IMO. It seems to not be gaining a lot of memebers - they are launching an internet effort to try to get folks to join. So that probably says it all.
