I’m not sure how you got that from AoL’s statement.
Someone on this post stated that
Martin Luther was/is a heretic. The person
posting was a name-caller. I guess the poster
also believes that Catholics only go to heaven
as well. I do respect other religions and do not
go around on CF calling people heretics if they
are not Catholics. Everyone is a child of God
regardless of the Christian religion they follow.
God Bless all Christians.

No one has said on this thread only Catholics are going to heaven.

No one has said everyone is not a Child of God.

Calling a heretic a heretic is not name calling; look up the term.

No one has said not to respect other religions.

Martin Luther WAS excommunicated by the Catholic Church.

Your post is making judgments and is uncharitable quite frankly…

Per PiwoWar: This is something to study, there are books on it but I would not say those kinds of negative things as well because we know, then, that negative things are said back. I mean, we are talking about something from 500 years ago and though, I strongly disagree with the ELCA, so do many other Lutherans. We should be one Church to begin with.

Dear BroomWagon,

The name is PIWOWAR. Please do not change it in your posts.

Yes, he was. Why? Because he had a different view. He stood up for what he believed.

No, I won’t change it, I mistakenly wrote it down, I know what it means now, I didn’t misspell it, I put the capital in the wrong place. Sorry. That’s my heritage too… actually, now I know what it means. At first it did look like something else.

Also, Piwowar, growing up near Native American Reservations and knowing of a number of Native American Tribes, at first that appeared to look like a “Tribal Name”, there are the Pima people of the Southwest, so to me it kind of looked like how I spelled it, like you were saying that tribe “Pima” and then “War”. I honestly thought your name at first was a Native American language, I looked it up, yes, it appears to be Polish which by the way, I do have in my ancestry. A bit embarrassing even more so to err in your name! 😊 Ohio, interesting, I know Cleveland is famous for its pierogies but that is another topic.

Piwo is one of the few words I know. To wit: “Piwo jest najlepszy.”

MODERATOR NOTICE

People born into Protestantism are not heretics. Please do not engage in name calling

No problem! We are cool!

One more thing… “Niec Zyje, Niec Zyje Polska” (Sorry, no Polish type, the Z should have a dot over it. Soft Z sound.)

Whoa, defend the Church to the Death, or at least hold-out to others that you will. I guarantee it by my salt, that you will be less likely to be required to act on that promise.

If PROTESTANTS want to stop protesting WE WILL ALLOW THEM ALSO TO RENOUNCE THEIR TITLES.

Regardless of any shortcomings the Holy Church may have suffered due to the contemporary constituency of its people, i hold out and profess that it is the one true faith, I profess that the Catholic belief in JESUS is the only proper.

I don’t get to say who goes to be with the ALMIGHTY or HIS SON and HOLY SPIRIT when we are done here, but we help our dear Pontiff carry the flag that JESUS gave Peter over that finish line.

MAY ALL PEOPLE BE TAKEN BACK UNTO HE WHO IS, EVEN IF THERE IS NO LONGER ROOM FOR ME.

Until then, God save the Holy Church.

No, I called Martin Luther a heretic and I re-iterated the teaching that we are not supposed to call Lutherans heretics. The subject of heaven never came up until you trolled for it.

Back in the very early 1960’s, I questioned my teacher, a nun, if Lutherans would go to heaven. She got very angry and stated that Roman Catholics would only go to heaven and no one else. She also told me that I would die on the spot if I ever entered a Lutheran Church. Well, I have entered many Lutheran Churches and I am still here. I am not trying to anger anyone but simply asking questions and making comments on how I feel.

Not all Catholics state the correct teaching; seriously? You would “die on the spot” if you"
“entered” a Lutheran Church.

That’s ridiculous; too bad no one knew to correct her back then; I supposed everyone just though she was telling her students correct information if they were younger.

A. It was fifty years ago.
B. It was a nun, not a bishop.
C. You know she’s wrong.
D. It was FIFTY YEARS AGO.

There are many threads on this of course (EENS). I have heard it stated pretty well like this:

“The only people in heaven are catholic, but not all catholics get to heaven”.

Meaning that all those in heaven believe and accept all that the church teaches, some perhaps coming to belief and acceptance through a mystical intervention of God by His mercy.

Simply put…all in heaven are on the same page more or less. You wouldn’t find a soul in heaven that didn’t believe in Mary’s immaculate conception for example, even if they might have held that belief on earth.

As students, you really did not challenge
the nuns. My Mom and Dad though, sent me on the
correct path.

Well said.
