Hello,I am beginning to think all men watched porn…but still hoping all married men don’t,especially Catholics:it doesn’t make sense!
Please can catholic married men give me an idea of the reality nowadays?I am worried about my brothers,my dad,my sons’ future,my cousins ,my friends…I have a hard time feeling comfortable with all the men in my life right now ,after finding out about my husband’s addiction(which broke me totally but I forgive and love him-but don’t feel as loved as I love him obviously despite him saying so)…Also I don’t hope for my one of my son to become a priest if all men do it now with Internet.I am worried about all the men in my life going straight to hell.
Honest answers please

Sorry I want to do a poll with these options:
Catholic married men who don’t watch porn since married
Catholic married men who watched it a few times in many years since married
Catholic married men who watch it a few times a year
Catholic married men who watch it several times a month
Catholic married men who watch it several times a week
Catholic married men who had an addiction while married and completely recovered
How do I do that?I am on an IPhone-thanks for helping

Sorry for this thread I am going to try post the same one with a poll if my IPhone allows it!

Hi, porn on the internet, tv, etc is a major problem in society today. I’m a married man, and my wife has found out that I’d been doing looking at porn on several occasions before we were married. She also forgave me but was obviously not happy. I’m not doing it now. 👍 Thank God. It is difficult though because it is so readily available. You just have to turn over the TV channel. Its that easy. Its far far to available, and that is the problem in our society as it has turned its back on religious values. In answer to your Q, not all men watch porn, but I guess most do. God bless

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

In this day and age, before you get married, ask your boyfriend/girlfriend about this.

Specifically, ask them:

-Have you ever?
-Do you now?
-Why did you?
-Were you addicted?
-When was the last time you did?

Get the whole picture. Don’t assume anything.

Sorry, but the priest was wrong to say that. I don’t doubt that a very high percentage of men confess that sin, but to say that 100% of men watch porn is not true.

Hi again, I think that their salvation even of loved ones, is between them and God, as although we can help others we cannot make their choices for them.

Yeah, it is not true that all men do it. I can say with certainty that my husband does not. He has in the past before we got married, but he doesn’t anymore.

Unfortunately in today’s society there is a very small percentage of men who have never watched porn, or never have been addicted. Even on television, the sights a man sees may not be technically porn, but trust me it’s gets us thinking about it.

That being said, it is entirely possible to beat, and I speak from personal experience. And it is a necessity to beat it for the family’s sake and the petson’s own spiritual sake. Porn poisons the mind, and the images you see you neve forget. But beating the addiction myself, and going to the sacraments and increasing my prayer life opened my eyes up to the evil that the porn industry is.

Your husband and your son face the same battle nearly all men do. Be supportive of their recovery, but make sure they know it is not okay with you.

My prayers are with you family.

God bless.

I can say with certainty that my husband does not either. It irritates me when I hear that every single man does. That’s just not true.

And I also I want to add, a porn addiction isnt something that will go away as soon as a man gets married. Marriage isn’t a magic cure. It needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.

No, all men don’t watch porn, catholic or otherwise. I would say that porn can be a danger to many if not most men. It is particularly targeted at men sexuality, although women fall to it as well. It can become very addicting, as once the moral barriers are broken down, people can receive stimulation on demand in quantities and frequencies that we are simply not built to handle.

As for worrying about the men in your life. Be proactive. Let your feelings be know. Don’t support movies, tv shows, radio etc that portray sexual immorality. Be outspoken about it. Also be outspoken about the evils on contraception and understand that these two problems or our time are intertwined.

Not to mention it’s also an impossible claim to prove.

That said, I know good Catholic men who have lied about it in the past to their wives and families. 😦

I used to. My then girlfriend now wife found my stash. We had an open and honest discussion about how she did not want that in a man. I stopped over 10 years ago. It was hard at first but I knew that it would dishonor my wife and myself. As the father of three girls I cannot tell you how disgusting it really is.

That is sad. Like I said, I don’t doubt that a majority of men view it. But not 100%.

Neither does my Fiance. What would irritate me the most was seeing and talking to women who would try to argue that Porn is a “solution” to cheating. That they’d rather see their husbands/Fiances/Boyfriends watch porn then cheat.

This mindset cheapens your relationship and it actually disrespects men as a whole. That men don’t have control over their sexual urges and if they can’t be satisfied they will automatically look elsewhere…and if they are going to look elsewhere…porn is “okay” but it’s not.

We’re on the same page. I’m a man and I don’t.

I think my sticking point is that I just can’t stress enough that spouses or serious boyfriends/girlfriends should be proactive about it.

I’ve heard many young women say “My guy would never do that”, “I don’t need to ask.” Et cetera.

I hate to say it but I don’t think one can always assume. Many good, even devout Catholic men have fallen to it in the past.

Yeah, that is a very common mindset and is ridiculous and VERY dangerous.
