Greetings in Christ to you All!

We have received the final rendering of the project and it is beautiful. We think the visuals, commentary, music and booklet will live up to your expectations.

We have endeavored to create a beautiful, truthful, inspiring work that is a worthy reflection of the gift of the Mass. Doctors of the Church have labored their entire life to write something of value related the most precious gift of the Eucharist. In some small way, it is our hope that we can act as a Beacon of Hope, so that the Holy Spirit will enter the lives of souls and set them afire with a Love of Christ and his church.

We ask you to Pray to Mary, The Mother Of God, as we take the final steps. Stay tuned the week of the 29th as you will se something very exciting!

In Christ

:gopray2: Holy Mary, Mother of God please pray for TKC and their project. Please ask your son Jesus to shower Graces on the people that are running this project. Please pray for all that will see this production. Please pray for all that have heard about this production, (including all the ones to whom I sent this link, Catholic and non-Catholic), but will be hesitant on watching. :gopray2: Please ask your son Jesus to open their hearts so that they can see what our Mass is really all about. Thank you Mary, I know you always pray for us when we ask.

Okay, I’m calm now. 😉

I remember that this comes with booklet right?
I could use this for home school for my daughter. 😃

Okay, I clicked on my own signature and I noticed that the webpage changed!! I’m getting goose bumps as I watch all the clips for the DVD and teary eyed. I look forward to getting the whole package.

Just bumping this thread so that everyone can see the posts in here for any information they need from the tkc.net webmaster. Tkc has posted information in this thread that you might want to know. So check it out. 👍 You can also click on my siggy for more info.

I received their first email newsletter today, and have just spent about an hour looking at all the clips and samples on the site of this amazing collection. I can’t wait to purchase it myself, and I think I already know of some people who will get this for Christmas this year!!

I strongly recommend checking it out, it really is excellent. 👍

—still have the background music for the booklet page playing in the background, it’s really gorgeous music!

I sent a link to the site to my parish’s RCIA director. Hopefully he’ll find it helpful as a teaching instrument.

I also watched alot of the clips. Absolutely moving.

Any plans to release this for use in other countries who use a different TV and DVD system? I have no details of the systems. I just know that DVD’s (or videos, despite the manufacturer saying it will play on either system) from the US won’t play here.

I also purchased several copies and had them shipped to different people as gifts. There’s no way I could wait for Christmas though, too far off. 🙂
I purchased the 3 pack for myself. You never know when you have the opportunity to give one away, so it’s nice to have extra copies on hand. 👍

I ordered a package for someone that runs a “Catholics Returning Home” class/lessons. I’ll have to call him closer to the date which is February 12th, to let him know it’s coming. 😉

Greetings in Christ to All!

First, we want to extend a deep Thank You for all of you on the Catholic Answers forum. Your support for our project is deeply appreciated.

We wanted to reply to the question related to Playing the DVD in other countries. The DVD will play in any computer. Playing the DVD in a traditional set top box is a little different. The DVD was produced in NTSC format, which is a North American format. If your player at home supports NTSC Dvd then it should function. Many European countries use the PAL format, and this Dvd would not play in these players.

There are no region code limitations on the DVD itself, so it would play in any country.

We hope this opens the doors for many countries who will want to use the project.

In Christ,

We use the PAL format here in Australia. Are there any plans to release it in this format? Otherwise, all these places will miss out. (my computer is old and does not have a DVD player in it)

IIRC, and this is not well known, but there are certain DVD players (not all) that can have a factory code entered that allow them to play your disc as if it was region 0, and I think you can get these codes to make PAL discs work on NTSC and vice-versa. What happens is you need to do some research. Google “DVD players” and “manufacturers codes” or “unlocking” or something like that. The codes aren’t meant to be public, but they’re not illegal or anything. They just allow the manufacturer to set the specifications for individual DVD players. To change them, it’s as simple as hitting a series of buttons on your remote and entering some very odd sequence of numbers and function buttons. I know people that have made their DVD player regionless, and I’ve watched PAL discs from England on their NTSC DVD players and it worked just fine…

BTW… Region 0 is universal. It will allow your DVD player to read any DVD from any continent. Converting from NTSC to PAL may entail a second code, I’m not sure. As stated above, this DVD is ALREADY produced as Region 0, so all you would need is this second code.

I just ordered the three pack and can hardly wait to get it.
What a joy to have this availble to us all.

Dear TKC person!

Just so you know I did post a letter that you wrote to me as a defense of using a mass with “altar boy” girls.

I was told that I should have asked for your permission to do so, but the post was not removed.

I am letting you and everyone here know after the fact and I am almost sure you probably don’t mind:

I got my package today but I haven’t watched it yet. The mailman came really late today; just about a half hour ago.

Anyway, I feel the same way about girls for alter servers. I don’t like it either. I think that is part of the problem for shortage in the Priesthood. Of course that’s not the huge part of the problem but I think it’s part of the problem why we don’t have as many young men discerning the priesthood.

There is a church where I attend Mass sometimes and they only have altar boys! 👍 My nephew is one of them! 😃

Greetings in Christ Jehanne!

We thank you for letting us know about the post regarding the Female Altar Servers. We are always open to dialog on our work and look forward to your letting us know what you think of our work.

As we stated earlier, the liturgies filmed were actual, not mock-up versions of a mass. We chose the liturgies carefully to represent what a catholic in the church in the United States is generally experiencing. In April 1994 John Paul II allowed girls to serve at mass at the Vatican and in June, 1994 gave Bishops permission to make the decision for Altar Girls at a local level. We believe these dates to be fairly accurate, but do know it happened in early to mid 1994.

We are not advocating a position for or against Altar Girls, but simply defer to the Local Bishop as they have the authority in the matter. In clear statements, the Vatican has upheld the local authority while consistently reminding us all that Altar Boys are a source of Priestly vocations and that serving at the altar provides an opportunity for discernment.

We Pray for our Bishops and ask Mary, the Mother of Christ to guide them as they work in the vineyard.

Your Servants in Christ!

I watched the DVD. It was put together very well. I understand that Pope John Paul the Great allowed girls to be altar servers but I still think it’s a problem.

But one thing I know for sure that Bishops did not approve is the holding of hands during the Our Father prayer in Mass. Although you have to really pay attention and it was shown very briefly, you could see the people holding hands during the Our Father prayer. I don’t like that. The Our Father is supposed to be our “vertical” prayer during the Mass; a prayer for GOD and for God alone. Just a few minutes after this we give the sign of peace. Why can’t people be satisfied with that?

There’s something else that I guess might not be a big deal but it didn’t really explain our “Catholic calisthenics” so that non-Catholics can understand why we kneel when we kneel. The DVD does explain why we stand during the Gospel reading. But I would’ve liked to have seen a little more explanation for the standing and kneeling that goes on during the Mass.

Even though we Catholics would understand this DVD very well, I think it still leaves something for some protestants as to what the “little” things in the Mass that we take for granted mean.
My cradle Catholic now Baptist protestant brother-in-law made a comment to me that the Mass has no meaning whatsoever and that all the kneeling and standing is for nothing. His words, “what does all that mean?”

I really enjoyed the DVD. The music is really nice and I would want to share this with any of my protestant friends.

I have not listened to the audio CD yet but I will be downloading it into my iPod tomorrow.

Nicely done [in your reply] TKC, Inc. Kudos !

Inquiring minds might wonder why a young lady, as a result of her service at the altar, might not equally discern a call to a formal religious vocation. As you have correctly noted, JPII found it acceptable. While it is true, they do not consecrate, in a former day these unsung heroines in their remarkable habits, reliably delivered one thing we desperately lack today…full numbers of high school graduates confirmed in their faith. With grace, we may yet find a way out of our clerical shortage, but this great mark of Catholic identity is irretrievably lost to us at a very dear price.

“We might have to part with the notion of a popular Church. It is possible that we are on the verge of a new era in the history of the Church, under circumstances very different from those we have faced in the past, when Christianity will resemble the mustard seed [Matthew 13:31-32], that is, will continue only in the form of small and seemingly insignificant groups, which yet will oppose evil with all their strength and bring Good into this world.”
[In Salz der Erde, Im Gespraech mit P Seewald (Christentum und katholische Kirche an der Jahrtausendwende Stuttgart, DVA Verlag, 1996 - Cardinal Ratzinger}

TKC, Inc…May your efforts receive the reward they deserve. My own vote will be found in your [Buy It Now] box if the 3 CD set now on order fulfills the promise of some very elegant marketing clips.
