At least the ‘priest now’ is wearing a roman collar. In Germany very few priests do. They just wear normal clothes. Like they are ashamed to be identified as priests. Or worse. Are only part-rime priests when they show up and then whip off their vestments and are just the same as all the other men out there. They even just use title ‘Mr’ rather than ‘Fr’.
I just looked at the website of a large Jesuit church near us. It has the photo portrait of 9 priests. Only 1 is wearing the collar. Other 8 are in civvies. It actually still shocks and upsets me. I dont get it. And this is in “Catholic Bavaria”
