Misunderstanding 65: Most Catholics are superstitious
Misunderstanding 66: Why Catholics believe that unborn babies are human and therefore have souls
Misunderstanding 67: Why should priests be celibate and why not women priests
Misunderstanding 68: Why believe in Holy Presence in the Host
Misunderstanding 69: All Catholics are required to believe all apparition approved by the Church as part of the deposit of faith.

Misunderstanding #(I don’t know): Catholics cans sin, sin and sin some more and then they just confess to a priest and puff all is forgiven.

Have heard this one recently from my “very” pious and devout Catholic aunt who said horrible things to my mother and then said “All I have to do is go to confession and all will be forgiven.” I pray for her daily

Which segues into another misunderstanding… “Catholics believe that only priests can forgive sin, not God.”

Here are some gargantuan ones:

Misunderstanding 71**: The Catholic Church burned Joan of Arc at the stake.
Misunderstanding 72**: The Catholic Church burned Galileo at the stake.
Misunderstanding 73**: The Popes excommunicated Galileo.

Anyone care to punch these full of holes? (I’d feel insulted if no one does.)

Misunderstanding 74: When they see statues in a Catholic store, they call it idols. 🤷

#75 The pope is always right.
Incorrect. The pope is only infallible when he speaks ex cathedra using the power vested in him as the heir of Peter, the founder of the church and Christ’s successor. This is limited to matters of personal salvation and has only been used 3-6 times throughout all of history.:highprayer:

76 The Mass is the re-sacrifice of Jesus Christ over and over again.
