Bishops are preparing to fight Government plans to allow a Catholic to ascend the throne because they say it would put the Church of England’s position in peril.

I am reasonably sure that few if any British or Commonwealth (Australian, Canadian, New Zealand) Catholics really care. As long as the Monarch is also the supreme governor of the Church of England, it makes sense that the Monarch also be a practising Anglican and also anyone in the line of succession. What should be amended is not that Catholics are barred but instead that all in the line of succession to the throne be practising Anglicans. That is more logical. I would add that real concern should be that Prince Charles is known to be more than interested in Islamic culture and wants to be known as the “Defender of Faiths” rather than the title of Defender of the Faith. When the Queen dies, there will be many messy issues connected to Charles. May be safer to exclude him from the line of succession and just go to King William and Queen Kate.

English society has already placed the Church of England in peril.

A Catholic Monarch should be the least of C of E’s problems. With same-sex marriage in the Government’s agenda and gay marriage affirming Ecclessial Law Lords, we are more likely to have a King and King or, a Queen and Queen.

Ha,Ha too true!

Yes, that is ‘exactly right’!

Catholics who are in Commonwealth countries should be preparing for a future in which the Crown is faced with a Church of England that has split over gay ‘marriage’ and a host of other unbiblical stances. There are many good Christians who will need a home and we should provide it!

The news that the Archbishop of Canterbury is stepping down naturally raises the question of who comes next and what do they believe? The CofE could be faced with increased chaos as some dioceses want gay marriage and others do not. The Anglican Ordinariate has come at a good time.

Hm, since it’s really about the potential children of William, who are unlikely to inherit for something like 50 years, excitement may be premature.
