Liberal/progressives within the Church are at it again.

ALL Staff affliated with the USCCB or any Diocese should have to take an oath of alliegence to the Magisterium. and promise to adhere to the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition”.

No Communion for those who promote or vote for pro-abortion Politicians.
There is nothing proportionate within the USA to the annual murder of approximately 1 MILLION babies per year.

I emailed the link to “Catholic Culture” article and Cardinal Ratzinger’s (Pope Benedict) 2004 statement about Holy Communion to my Diocese Bishop.
I suggest everyone do the same.

What good would it do? WHO is ultimately responsible for the actions of those on its staff and protecting and promoting the moral good - WHO is allowing this through tacit approval and omission of their office?

According to the CCC - Bishops are responsible for everything Catholic in their own Diocese.
According to Pope Benedict and the Vatican, Bishops’ Conferences exist only to assist Bishops.

The majority of Bishops can make the Conference (in their own Country) change their ways.

If the majority of Bishops want the staff at the USCCB and its affiliates changed with cause, it will change.

I am convinced that most Bishops do not know exactly what the various Staff’s do unless it is brought to their attention by the Faithful.

Things have been pulled from the USCCB site - most recent that comes to mind is when a Committee and Staff said we should change our light bulbs for Lent. And prior to 2010 when they provided Catholic contributions to pro-abortion and pro-gay marrage groups.

If we want things to change to be in accord with the Teaching of the Church, we each must notify our own Bishop.
They are not mind readers.

The claim to being "financially self-sustaining" is artificial when you take into consideration the fact that the dioceses, under the direction of their bishops, subscribe to this soi-disant "CATHOLIC News Service" and presumably pay for it. Obviously, the bishops go-along-to-get-along with the USCCB. In turn, the dioceses have the parishes subscribe, either voluntarily or not, to their diocesan papers which print the effluent from CNS. It would be very interesting to see a funding breakdown.

Is there an address you can provide me with so I can write to protest this printing of false image in Catholic news papers? It is truly outrageous and something must be done to stop these out-of-control bishops.

Hilda Solis was my congresswoman -- and (shame on me!) I voted for her. As a pro-life feminist and woman of the left, I believed that I agreed with Ms. Solis on most issues other than abortion. As of the 2010 election, I now know better that I must vote blank ballots till there are viable pro-life Democratic, Green or other left-wing third-party candidates. (GOP candidates are not an option for me.)

How can you possibly say that CNS is "an independent division" of the USCCB? It functions under the USCCB and the bishops are responsible for the material it publishes. In effect, because the CNS output (inane at best and often misleading, as this piece is) is used by diocesan papers all over the country, it's almost functioning as a de facto national Catholic newspaper.

Things have only changed after exposes have come from orthodox Catholic groups and outrage has been expressed from the faithful. One would hope, and certainly think, that after so many incidents, (and I could name another dozen from your list above) that a system would be put in place by now that would assure the responsibility fall on appropriate shoulders.

Until things are “in place” as you would wish, it’s simple logic
to recognize that WE as Catholics have an absolute obligation
to ‘correct and advise’ when things fall through the cracks.

Easier to blame the bishops? Maybe, but so ineffective.
