Wow! That is good news! Good for them for using the laws for their benefit now. I live in Canada and read that Catholic Hospitals will be forced to provide birth control to employees through their health insurance benefits.

Could the Catholic hospitals use this law as well?

I believe you’re thinking of what’s happening in the US, as employer health insurance in Canada mostly consists of vision, dental, and prescription drugs.

Actually, some Catholic hospitals in Canada have gone so far as to be effectively shut down before they compromise on morals (look up St. Elizabeth’s in Humboldt, SK for an example).

And also, the Equality Act is a law of the United Kingdom, not Canada (hence the reference to the NHS, which is the British equivalent of Medicare).
