Is that what it takes to be Orthodox? To be in communion with Moscow or Constantinople?According to most EO, HB isn’t Orthodox. The Kyiv Patriarchate isn’t in communion with Moscow nor Constantinople…

No, to be Orthodox one must be in Communion with all 15 (or 14, depending on how you count) Autocephalus Churches. That includes Moscow and Constantinople, however the issue of how to define who is Orthodox was discussed and Moscow refused to allow it to be defined in any official way as one who is in communion with the Bishops of any particular Church. Ultimately their argument was convincing enough that all agreed with them.Is that what it takes to be Orthodox? To be in communion with Moscow or Constantinople?![]()
Imagine that!! Defining Orthodox as being Orthodox and not who your in communion with!! It does require being in communion with the rest of the Orthodox Church, it simply isn’t defined by communion with one specific Church. Communion with non-Orthodox would stop one from being Orthodox.Imagine that!! Defining Orthodox as being Orthodox and not who your in communion with!! What a novel idea!![]()
I’ve never heard an Orthodox define what it means to be Orthodox as to who you are in communion with, sounds like a Western way of seeing things. Most Orthodox I’ve encountered would say that being Orthodox is having the true faith or right belief or right worship. It does require being in communion with the rest of the Orthodox Church, it simply isn’t defined by communion with one specific Church. No. I don’t think saying there is evidence on the record contradicting what someone says is posturing and strutting. I think it’s a simple statement.you mean like the following statement?
