Catholic population of South Korea growing very rapidly--now more than 10% of the population

The figures show what might become of a whole country in Asia, South Korea, in the future. While the number of Catholics in South Korea increases 2 to 3 percent a year, the country’s overall population has recently been going up only .8 percent. This rate of increase in the Catholic population meant that the number of Catholics in South Korea went up from three and a half million in 1998 (4.5 % of the population) to more than five million today (10 percent of the population)-in a little more than 10 years. At this rate, the future of South Korea will be the future of a people who will become increasingly Catholic at a rapid rate over the years. See
