I think he’s asking them to acknowledge the fact that they have already left a long time ago. Be honest and say “Im not really Catholic, but thanks for the votes”.I would say that those 18 thugs in congress need more than a civics lesson, they need a kick in the butt.

I beleive in the power of prayer but what ever happened to ‘men of action’ ?We must simply pray and do a penance.

I think we should show our disdain for these so called Catholics by asking their local Bishops to address these individuals and inform them of the perils of their actions.I would say that those 18 thugs in congress need more than a civics lesson, they need a kick in the butt.

WORD, brother!I beleive in the power of prayer but what ever happened to ‘men of action’ ?
I think the Bishops need to sac up and do their job or the holy father should take note of Fr. Etenuer and fast track him to Cardinal.
Maybe we can have him when Mahony retires…![]()

This is how Bishops lead their flock!
We do not take the food of children and throw it to the dogs. The Church has the authority to bind and loose.I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.
We’re a church that welcomes saints and sinners…even the obstinate ones. That’s the pastoral sensitivity of Christ.
It’s frightening that folks have this orthodoxy litmus test which seems to call on clergy to put their own flock out to pasture.
I’m sorry…I didn’t know this was about you.We do not take the food of children and throw it to the dogs.
Because they scandalize people and causes others to sin. And Paul has plenty to say about that.I’m sorry…I didn’t know this was about you.
Good for him. Father Tom also took on Sean Hannity a little while ago. He’s doing his part for sure.I would say that those 18 thugs in congress need more than a civics lesson, they need a kick in the butt.

May I ask what your solution is for those that preach it is OK to go against Holy Mother Church teachings while making sure the public knows they are “catholic” so some will vote for them?I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publicly cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.

They have already put themselves out to pasture. Meanwhile, when non-Catholics see how they behave, they can rightfully assume that the Church is not what it claims to be. My pastor said as much when we were talking about folks who give bad examples of Church teaching. We welcome sinners to be sure, but we should not be in a position to legitimize their bad behavior.I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.

Jesus also said anyone who leads the innocent astray should have a millstone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea.I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.

If you will recall, when Our Lord instituted the Sacrament of Pennance/Reconcilliation He said “Receive ye the Holy Ghost, whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them, and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained”. This is not a one way street leading to forgiveness. There are dire consequences for those whose sins are retained. There is a well defined formula for full forgiveness. This does not mean that we can presume that the the Ever Loving God will forgive all of man’s sins because of our human frailty. At the appropriate time we must denounce the sin (publicly if warranted), do our penance and resolve not to commit the sin again.I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.

There is obviously a failure to recognize the difference between teaching, nurturing, and correcting the wayward who is humbly seeking the truth and admonishing and reprimanding those of our number who have no regard for the truth and obstinately and publically profess the exact opposite of what that truth is - all the while claiming to be faithful members of the Church that proclaims a truth that they believe to be false. Only an extremely near-sighted and selective reading of the NT would lead anyone to believe that the pastoral sensitivity of Christ is about welcoming everybody as-is without demanding repentance and the obedience of faith.I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.

Well, if they didn’t publically proclaim their pro-abort stance, they wouldn’t be publically be admonished, now would they ??I will never understand why it gets a ‘hooray’ when any priest or bishop publically cuts off someone from the Body of Christ.
