Catholic priest who fathered child is suspended

Once again for your explanation. As Trappists we had no link at all to our diocese except for the fact the Bishop liked the idea of having us within his diocese. There were no financial links at all. with the diocese as we did not work in any parish. We lived from the labor of our hands as per "The Rule ". I am sorry to hear of your health issues. Thank you for your prayers. My particular branch of the order was separated from the Capuchins for the sole purpose of working for the Gospel of Life. So our ministry in Respect Life is not diocesan. Like the Trappists, the bishop likes having us around. But the fraternity in which I live has no financial relationship with the diocese, since Respect Life is not a diocesan ministry. Like the Trappists, we live by our own resources. Unlike the Trappists, we don’t have a monastery and land. So we beg.

That’s the way we wanted to live, totally dependant on Divine Providence and the work of our hands as St. Francis wrote in our rule. My contributions to the ministry are very small right now. I go around to parishes and deliver talks on the Gospel of Life. I also teach a program on life for teens, once a week. We usually have about 15 attend every week. And I am on the core team for Life Teen. I do all the Gospel of Life work for Life Teen in our area. I teach a class for fathers who have opted to keep their unborn children. It’s a parenting class. That’s only an hour a week. And I am on the Board of Advisors for Respect Life where we make policies, plan programs and projects and do financial planning for the ministry. Other than that, I really can’t do more right now.

My only offering is my daily discomfort. But I’ve made a deal with the Immaculate Heart. I asked her for the gift of purity of heart and mind. In return I give her one day of patience with my condition for the life of an unborn child. I figure I can do seven days of patient living for seven unbron children. I picked seven since seven has a special significance in God’s mysteries:

1. Seven days of creation
2. Seven continents
3. Seven sacraments
4. Seven cardinal sins
5. Seven joys of Mary
6. Seven sorrows of Mary
7. Seven last words of Christ
8. Seven mysteries to the Franciscan Rosary
9. Seven virtues
   10.Seven archangels

I live seven days at a time. LOL

If this were handled in a qiet and humane way, they would probably get more assistance and support, with less resistance. But the lawyers are making a mess of this.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Lawyers, media, politicians… anytime the Catholic church has done something wrong, it is blown out of proportion and made into headlines. The hate for the R.C. Church is so obvious all around us today. I wonder if that could be considered a “Hate Crime”?? I doubt it. :nope:
