Can anyone point me to or give me a list of Catholic Or Protestant Bible versions that differ from one another? Or at least list the ones you know of? Just verses, please do not list the deuterocanonical books missing. Examples: Luke 1:28, calling Mary highly favored as opposed to full of grace. Matthew 18:11 missing. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 traditions vs teachings. 1 Timothy 3:15 church “a” pillar of truth vs “the” pillar. 2 Corinthians 2:10 forgiven in “person” of Christ vs “presence”.
Some may differ between Protestant themselves and others may differ between Protestant and Catholic. Please list all if you will.
2 verses come to my mind immediately…
Genesis 3: 15 is translated differently in Catholic bibles and in Protestant Bibles.
For instance in the Catholic New American Bible:
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
The NRSV Catholic edition:
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel."
Revised Standard Version with Apocrypha:
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
Douay Rheims Catholic Bible
I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.
Authorized King James Version
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The second example that come to mind is the different translation for John 1:1 in the Jehovah’s Witnesses own translation, The New World Translation:
In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Bible is the only translation that adds an “a” before the word “God” in that verse.
