You covered all the significant differences in your first post. The Protestant/Catholic differences come about in the interpretation of identical translations. Take, for instance, John 3:5. The NAB says, “Jesus answered, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.’”I should have been more clear in my thread. Imlooking for key Catholic verse that different Protestant translations twis around and change meaning of. Please?
The New American Standard Bible says, “Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.’”
There is no real difference in the meaning of these two translations. Yet Catholics will say it refers to baptism. Protestants will say various things but they all agree that it has nothing to do with baptism.
